Isn't the Ferrari's base price at around $2000?

yes, but for that price you only get 2x256mb RAM and a 80/4200 HD.
most lappies at that price point get you 1024RAM and either 60/7200 or 80/5400 HD.
basically you are trading the higher performance components for a bright red paint job.

which for many people is a expensive price to begin with. But then you consider the 4200rpm HDD it comes with and not to mention the two Dimms of 256mb which means to have to take one or both out to upgrade the ram.

Not entirely true, also the Acer Travelmate 8000 series that are more expensive comes with the exact same RAM & HDD configuration.

That's the dumbest comment you've had all day
What's not entirely true? And because of it's crappy RAM and HDD config, no one really looks into the 8000 either

doom 3 1024 x 768 in ultra settings ~ 33~41 fps in the timedemo1 (varies whether the vid card is O/Ced or not). Runs awesome

Biased?! I just referenced the first page with benchmarks on all these reviews and that's all

Talking about contributing, eh?
actually the 3rd and 4th pages, which may have been the beginning of the benchmark section, but also happened to favor the A64

Yeah, that would be nice. That would greatly cut down the cpu heat, allowing for better overclocks. I remember the old AMD K6-2 days when you were luck to get it down to 70 Celcius.

They aren't doing this... read somewhere that they are going for dual-core P4 style chips... ugh!

And your point is? I didn't exactly write those reviews you know...

the point is you're deliberately misleading people. it's not good for the forums, stop doing it.

ok guys the reason this is going nowhere is because snorre just refuses to admit that he's wrong on many of his points. if you take a look at his replies, he just tries to turn the topic around everytime you point them out to him:

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying. I don't like XGA resolutions at all, and especially not the widescreen type. A 15" widescreen LCD is utter crap compared to my 32" widescreen TV anyways.

i umm just bought a cl56 with its sxga+ screen, but that doesn't mean you see me shamelessly plugging that its 15'' screen is better than a 15.4'' wsxga+. that's ridiculous. widescreen LCDs look better in every aspect, you get true-black and much better vertical viewing angles. snorre probably knows it, he just doesn't want to admit it because he can't dry hump his acer and think clearly at the same time. that's why he brought up his umm... 32'' widescreen TV? right. good job there acer salesman.

geez, this is even more ridiculous:

snorre--> From what I hear Doom3 is unplayable on most Pentium M notebooks, while it runs great on mine at medium quality settings

apparently, you have very selective hearing get a clue, man. there's few downsides to the new P-M dothans, and in most cases they are equal to if not superior to the a64 LV chips. this is clear from your own quoted gamepc review. i would point them out, but i just remembered that rincewind and i did just that a few months ago--> you refused to see anything beyond the red cover of your ferrari then, and i doubt it would be any different now.

yeah okay so, i love a good debate when both sides are being objective about things, but it's pretty clear that snorre = idiot with eyes closed and ears shut. hopefully he won't embarass himself anymore by giving any more "advice" round here, but i doubt we'll be so lucky.

add him to your ignore list and be done with it. tell everyone in sight, i'd hate to have someone who didn't know the latest and greatest about the P-M (like the initial poster of this thread for example!!!) be led astray to something with a crappy battery life.
Ignore list? Didn't even think about that. Oh man, that is sweet. It erases all of his posts!!!
yeah just do it and be done with him. save your breath for topics worth discussing.

You guys really are pathetic using all your energy trying to smear my name in any way you feel fit. I'm not deliberately trying to mislead anyone, but you clearly are! This hardly comes as any surprise, especially with all the Intel fanboys in these forums like drawmonster, Unleaded, agentsim, DDDa, Tourney2112 & Aikeo to name a few. Sorry if I popped your bubble

Snorre, I myself am an AMD fan but I cannot play the role of a blind, narrow-minded idiot (this is not refering to you) and just for the sake of arguing state left and right that Dothan is crap and AMD is heaven just because I love AMD. Intel didn't even exist for me before they came out with the Centrino but after that I cannot just remain blind to facts and continue ignoring them. Amd is still the king in the desktop and the notebook DTR world, IMO, but for the best overall package of performance, light weight, and long battery life to argue that Dothan is not the best is just plain stupid.
