Man, that's a huge difference. A couple of things to check . . .
--What's your system BIOS power setting at? Initially, we had some issues with the "down-clocking" of the CPU speed to conserve battery life. Downloading SP2 fixed that problem.

--What do you have running in the background?

--Download the latest ATI Omega drivers. You can get it here: http://www.omegadrivers.net/

Keep us posted!

i have the bios set to max performance...my 3790 is very new so it came with sp2...i tried once with power settings set to laptop and once set to desktop...mobile meter was showing full proc speeds when 3dmark started and stopped...i've got the omegas downloaded..but not installed...wanted to test before and after and found these really low scores so thought i'd ask before i installed omegas....oh...and background...had a file sharing program running the first time...second time was after a reboot so there wasn't much running in the background....ii'm gonna install omegas now and retest.

I know the 3790 isn't a gaming powerhouse but how's it do on games like CoD, CoH and Wow? Does it get by? Does it do well?

The config I'm looking at is with the 1.7GHz Dothan, 512Mb RAM, and the 60G 7200rpm HDD.

I have an AMD 64 based desktop running a 6800 GT vidcard for my serious gaming but I'd like to be able to take the 3790 (if I get it) on the go and do some reasonable gaming.

I'm not expecting to run DOOM3 with everyting turned up, but would like to be able to run CoD at least at medium settings with no hiccuping.

Can the 3790 (especially if running the Omega drivers) handle this?

Also, what's the average battery time of this puppy, and is it doubled using the 12 cell option?

It suits my gaming needs just fine.

Doom3: "high" settings, 1200 X 900 res. (or something close to that, I can't recall exactly), no AA. Very smooth, no slowdowns.

HL2: "high" settings, 1200 X ~900 (again, my best guess, I've already beaten it and erased it), 2XAA, trilinear, all other settings at highest. Smooth as silk, no slowdowns.

CoD: Just purchased this weekend. Can't seem to get res. higher than 800 X 600 without slowdowns at really "busy" parts of game. Trilinear filtering. No AA. All other settings maxed. Great game.

Hope that helps. Don't have any framerates for you, but, to my eyes, nearly everything runs extremely well.

Battery life for my 12 cell varies depending on what I'm doing. Typically, I can pull about 4.5 to 5 hours with wireless turned off, screen brightness dimmed a couple of levels, and running Powerpoint, Word and WMP. Gaming can go for about 2 to 2.5 hours. Movies: about 3.5 to 4 hours.
