Wait, or buy now? AND 4750 Qs

Hi

I am ready to buy a new laptop. I am drawn to the 4750, but I am wondering if I should wait for new models to come that will push the price of 4750 down, or will be more attractive than the 4750.

Any ideas here?

Also,

1. does the extra 128 Mb VRAM that the 8790 has make that much difference when it comes to games? Does Doom3 run real well on the 4750?

2. How much of a difference does a faster HD make? I wont be doing video editting -- mostly document editting, email, and gaming.

3. It seems that there is a bit of chatter about heating for the 4750. Does AS5 really help keep this thing cooler, and help keep the fan noise down?

Thanks!

1) yes it runs well
2) will help load levels in games faster and load large videos. more ram will help with the editing part.
3) mayaman2's review details AS5 stuff... and yes it made a noticble difference.

Wait?

So, it sounds like the 4750 runs real well.

1. What is the next new machine on deck for sager? What is the timeline looking like?

2. Does anyone have experience with the 4750 carrying cases? the backpacks?

1. the next one will be the 9000 I think and it'll be PCI-E, 3.6GHZ P4 or sumtin, 3 HD's, lots of other goodies and prob really expensive. It'll be comin out around Sept last I heard.

2. I ordered the Targus 315 Sport Deluxe Backpack with mine, and it is very comfortable and sexy. Lots of room for the lappy and books, mouse, power adapter, cd's, etc. I barely notice the weight of my 4750 with it on. I highly recommend that pack especially if you're goin to school.

I just go back from massachutes (sp). I took my 4750 up there in the 315 by targus. Great bag by the way. Unfortunately none of the hotels I stayed at had wifi enabled. The last one had direct connection, but I was too lazy to ask the hotel for a cat5 cable. So i watched movies and played games!

Those of us that have watched this forum from the start and have seen new models release...... when a new model comes out, the old models do not drop in price very much, they just phase out.

When you are ready to buy, pay what you are willing to pay and not much more. The more you spend over your budget, the greater the buyers remorse.

Sorry for digginng up such an old thread, but I was wondering if the 4750 will be updated or even replaced, any time soon?
