5690 not bootinghttp://notebookforum5690

Have a major problem, my 5690 will not boot XP Home.
I have run the bootdisk ( 6 floppies ) and reformatted C drive,
when the set-up ask for the XP CD, I get an error saying that SP1.cab
file is corrupted or missing. I went into the BIOS and noticed under the
Boot heading that the removable drive and the hard drive have a + next
to each drive but the CD-ROM drive has no + or -. If I highlight the CD-ROM
I have an ! sign come up. Is the Bootdisk not loading the drive for the CD-ROM
or is there another problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, RedBim

Seems as though it's a hardware issue, or the cd is toast. Try reading the XP media in another drive. Also check to see if the media is scratched if it issee if you can borrow the media from some one else.
