Use the one on the bottom of your laptop. I assume you are using the OEM discs that came with your notebook?

If he's using one of the OEM disks that came with the laptop.. (my windows xp home is a purple CD), he shouldn't have to enter in a cd key at all.. right? I remember formatting my laptop one or twice already.. and I used the windows xp cd that came with my dell. I don't remember typing in a cd key at all.
