TV Tuner in 8890 (New Driver)

After trying driver after driver and not being 100% satisfied, I found that the drivers for the AVerTV 203 card work flawlessly with the 8890 TV Tuner, even the AverTV software which is version 5.0 works perfectly including recording and time shift.

The versions of this drivers is:
Bt848.sys --> 7.0.2.7

To install them just go to http://www.avermedia.com and select download, get the drivers for AVerTV203 v5034MultiLanguage. Unzip. Go to device manager and uninstall old drivers, reboot, and point windows to the new drivers in the unzipped folder. Easy as that. Then run the setup from the unzip folder.

One thing that i love from this ones is that it supports video desktop, so you can have TV as your desktop backgroung.

Enjoy!

thanks, i didn't even see that page

there is only one .inf file in the unzipped dir, and it is not recognized, when i go to "update driver" within device manager... so i should just go ahead and uninstall the original one and then try it?

zach, i don't know why that's not working. r u sure you got the exact file he listed? i downloaded that from the link provided by violet, and was able to install the driver from the inf file no problem. try uninstalling your driver and software, and then run the setup

I just installed those new drivers but now I cant get any sound when watching TV? Any suggestions? In the device manager it says both the sound and video drviers are good to go.

Thanks

did u check if the aux in sound control panel is muted? mess with the different volume controls in there until u get it to work
post #9 of 31
well i messed around a bit and have got the sound to come from my notebook speakers, but I still cant get sound from my external speakers router through the SB Audigy...any ideas?
The audio output of the TV tuner is connected to the AUX input of the internal sound chip. Now, how can you redirect that to your SB Audigy, I have no idea. You basically have to send the output of the internal sound chip to your Audigy...

You know, I can't seem to get my TV Tuner working correctly on this laptop. Never have been able to...

The default drivers that I got from Sager sorta work. I can watch tv, but not record. And the remote only sorta works (some of the buttons work, some of them do nothing, some of them do the wrong thing). I tried the upgrade to the above-listed drivers, but couldn't get all of them to list.

I could get the AverMedia AVerTV WDM Audio Capture and Video Capture devices to use the new driver with the (878) at the end of the name, but couldn't get the Crossbar or the TV Tuner to take the new driver. Even when I tried to force the use of the new driver, it wouldn't bring the version with (878) on the end to the list, so I was unable to install them. I can see them in the .inf file, but can't get them to list in the update driver window...

And, now, The Version 5.0 AVerTV Software blows up as soon as I try to load it up.

I guess I'm destined not to have a TV Tuner in this lappy..

When I tried to upgrade to the newer driver and tv program, I first noticed that the video input freezes if you have one of the 2 newest omegas installed, but when I went back to 2544 it would show the video, but now I have a vertical line of static on the display. That and none of the interlacing options seems to change the actual picture at all. I haven't tried goin back to the original driver/program yet to see if the line is just because of all the driver swapping?? or if it actually is the new driver/program

there is a known bug in the omega drivers past version 2.5.44 with video overlay. they say it's an ATI bug, not an omega bug, but he's working on fixing it
post #14 of 31

ATI/Omega Drivers

That video/overlay problem with the more recent ATI drivers was due to a hardware issue that was fixed with the 8890 bios update. Works like a charm now.

not for me, even with the latest bios, i have to open a wmv file twice to play it properly

I have the extigy and was NEVER able to get tv sound thru my external speakers. I alwasy switched the audio device back to the realtec before opening tvstudio. I would love to know if there were a way to get it to go through the extigy. Do you remember how you got it through your audigy?

Im also having trouble routing the sound w/ my audigy nx. Wondering if you guys have any ideas.

hello once again gents,

to the guys that seem to be having problems with their autigys and to the gents that are still having problems with their progs working, make sure you all have the upgraded bios, v10. it fixed everything for me, except for the few problems i had with over heating and a bad cd drive, which i still need to rma. overheating was solved by the thread about AS in this forum. anyway, as for how to use the autigy w/o switching back to realtek, how are you connecting it to the sager? and my next question is have you tried installing that hardware in the tv prog? im not at mine right now, but im quite positive there is a way to view the hardware that program uses. and if you can install the hardware via the tv prog, it should give you the option to use whatever hardware you would like, and thus fix the problem. let me know so i can help. if anyone else has already solved it, let us know. (it is an old thread)
