3-In-1 Media Card Reader Question

I inserted a brand new SD card into the slot thing and nothing happened, no little XP Balloon saying it found new storage and no new drive in My Computer. Do I need drivers not found in the original installation?

I havn't any problems with windowd identifying diffrent cards...I know this is a stupid suggestion but did you try running the new hardware wizard?

I believe the driver for the card reader is included in the PCMCIA drivers, so make sure you have those installed, and enabled in the device manager. I haven't actually ever used mine, so I can't really suggest any solution....sorry, but good luck.

Yea... I found which PCMCIA controller was responsible for the card reader, removed it and what not and still can't seem to get it to work.

When I insert a MS into the slot, an eject hardware icon appears in the system tray. An Add New Hardware box has never come up.

twopiece the reason why there is no "add new hardware" beacuse it actually isnt new hardware. the pc knows about the card reader on startup which is the hardware the card u put in it is just like putting a cd in the cdrive

make sure you are pushing the card all the way in. Some of them have to be pushed in pretty far, almsot enough so its tough to pull it back out.

Doesn't it "click" when it is in fully?

Twopiece, I don't even get that... there is a remove hardware balloon but for the PCMIAIANSDIND whatever WLAN card.

Restore Factory XP Services

Here is a little registry file to restore your XP Pro back to the original running services settings.

I had the same problem with mine. Search the treads, I am pretty sure I posted my solution.

Look for posts by axecreatives, it was a few months ago.

I think I found 02Micro MemoryCardBus Drivers on aliensware's site. First remove all the pcmcia stuff in Device Manager, then reinstall the drivers.

I did that already. Removed the PCMIA stuff and reinstalled. It finds both PCMIA slots but no card in the reader. I emailed Alienware

I'm glad you brought this up, because I just encountered the exact same situation 2 days ago. I was en route to write up a request for help here, so let me know what comes of this. I've ensured that the SD card is completely inserted, but I have not reverted my services to factory default yet. If you do this Thinkjose1 and it works, or whatever method you find (new drivers perhaps) please share the info here!

I don't think I am. I don't have much use for a reader now... I could always mange them in the Zodiac so meh.

And with school coming up and me rushing to get my summer assignments done, I can't afford a day without my lappy (to send to depot)
