Doom3 FPS drop after play

Ok so I got every tweak and driver and a coolpad and overclocked my GPU and got Doom3 to run at 1200x800, medium settings at like 30-50fps in gameplay, and 34.5fps on the Timedemo... BUT, for some reason, after playing the game for a minute or two, my FPS drops to like 10-40 depending on light. Example - Right when you start off on multiplayer I load in and can look straight at that big cool matrix-ish ship and get a constant 40fps, but I walk around a bit, come back, and I start to get like 12-18fps when looking at the ship... Any ideas, tips?

For some reason every once in awhile my usual FPS of 30-50 will drop to 10-20 for a little bit and then go back up.

might be a dumb question, but are your power settings on full go?

this is probably because your computer is accessing your hdd for info to transfer to your system memory as you advance in the game. Depending on how fast your hdd is, the lag can be longer or shorter.

They are actually not, their set to go up as I need them(Notebook/Laptop), for some reason when I set them on Home/Office Desktop or Always on, they only stay at 2ghz for a minute and drop back down. I'm DLing Servicepack2 right now to see if that fixes this.

Ok, for SOME reason I set it at Home/Office and it STILL drops to 1.6 or .8 ghz after different amounts of time for NO reason. Anyone have ideas?
