touchpad and mouse erratic

Whenever I boot up my Area 51 mobile, I leave it on for about 4-9 minutes then suddenly the right menu pops on the desktop like when you press the right button on the mouse. After this I can't get rid of it and my left mouse button stops functioning. Other times I just can't click on anything at all.

I've reinstalled the drivers for the touchpad and even tried some generic drivers with no luck. I even used microsoft drivers with no luck.

I saw this thread on the AW site

Looks like you have to disabled the HID mouse on the system device to fix it but then that disables the remote.

Is there anyway to fix this??

I had the same problem...almost exactly the same, I had to flash the BIOS down to 1.09 from 1.13...it worked, but I don't know what caused the problem in the first place...

Too bad I can't flash it to a lower BIOS. I need to use the latest one cause I got a 9700.

I uninstalled the ATI 8.03 drivers from AW and used modded catalyst drivers, the problem doesn't seem to be appearing anymore.

I think it has to do with the remote control drivers as I read on the AW forums. But no one really has a fix for it.

huh...I use my control without any problems, maybe part of the issue is the BIOS...maybe I'll try flashing up to a more current version and see if the issue comes back

Damn problem came back again, only way that I can keep my mouse from locking up is to disable the HID compliant mouse which controls the remote.

Any ideas?

Could it be my microsoft mouse? I doubt it.

I notice other people on the official AW forum are having this issue but seems like they are ignoring it.

Well I read thru the AW official Forums, it comes down to 2 issues that I see. One is the wireless button next to the power, if that is on, it stutters the system and whacks out my mouse. Other solution is to disable the HID compliant mouse, but that turns off the remote.

This issue has been going on since the beginning of this year and many people in the support forums are pissed because AW has not fixed it yet and are ignoring it.

We paid a premium for a nice laptop and good support, I wish they would follow thru on it. I'm getting kinda pissed about it.

Just a thought, maybe try uninstalling Synaptic Touchpad drivers altogether. The scroll on the touchpad will no longer work but the rest should work fine.

Been done, still doesn't work. The problem is the remote control has a mouse feature on it that conflicts with the USB mouse. AW needs to find a fix for this and still hasn't.

This is what I posted on the AW boards, other people have complained about this issue but still no resolution.

"Ok well my conclusion is that the Touchpad is conflicting with the HID mouse which is the mouse device on the Remote control. I turned off the touchpad in the BIOS, and it seems like the locking up disappeared.

I tried every mouse driver from the windows xp standard to the generic Synaptics to AW SYnaptics, to microsoft intellipoint and it constantly locks up with both the HID mouse and touchpad are enabled.

Is there any kind of fix for this, or I will always have to disable one or the other.

I would really like to have both enabled since this is a premium laptop that I paid for. I really wish all the hardware on this laptop was compatible with each other and yes this happen under SP 1 and SP 2. I've tried everything.

And yes I have been working on this problem for 3 days now, reinstalled the OS 4 times. I concluded it's an conflicting issue with the HID mouse that the remote controls and the touchpad."

Looks like the HID mouse conflicts with an USB mouse connected too while the touchpad is disabled SIGH!!!

The only way to unlock the locked pointer is to unlocked it with the remote control. MAN this is annoying.

I'm not having any of the issues listed above. I've got a USB mouse and the remote works fine without its drivers installed. Give it a try w/o remote drivers.

That's the thing I didn't install the remote drivers because I reinstalled the OS and it's still acting up.

I read thru the forums, a lot of the people just disable the HID mouse to fix the issue but still AW should come out with a fix for it.

The circular pad on the remote that controls the pointer works without the remote drivers because it's using the microsoft drivers, it's seen as the HID mosue device.

But how can you use the TV, DVD, and MP3 buttons on the remote without the remote software installed?

I've not tried anything but the mouse pointer and power buttons on the remote. Once I get home I'll try.

hey, i had posted about my touchpad acting up a while ago, both in the aw forums and the nbf ones. sadly the aw forums were of absolutely no help, and the nbf gave me a couple of ideas, but none that worked. more importantly, the problem went away...for a while. just recently i've been having that same problem where the right-button menu just decides to pop up. now it's coupled with the annoying feature where it seems that the left button is randomly being pressed... although this is a great excuse for "accidently" wandering onto porn sites...it's also a huge piss off when you're actually doing anything. my solution was to unistall the synaptics drivers, and anything related to a ps/2 mouse. i don't know how your mouse is hooked up, but it's generally urged that you hook it up through your usb port to get all of the features, because the ps/2 port seems to be sharred with the touchpad. i have the feeling our problem is a combination of heat and the touchpad, as mine only really starts acting up after my laptop gets really hot. you did say that yours happens right after boot though? try uninstalling the synaptics drivers and any ps/2 mouse drivers that you see in your hardware profiles. this has worked for me so far. oh, and i'm running the original bios.
