so my friend spilled a little water

My friend has a 5680 and he accidently spilled a little water, like less than 1/8 of a cup of water on his computer. Normally this would suck but would probably be alright. Except the water went directly into the right speaker. He immediately turned it off and let it sit for like 5 hours and then went back to it. Now it will start into the bios normally but when it is done checking his system resources it slows way down, starts to make a beeping noise, and then the text starts to disappear from the top down culminating in him turning it off manually. Any ideas what has happened of what he can do?

Thanks much.

Your "friend" did this? I have a lot of "friends" who do stupid, accidental things, too. Interestingly, they, too, have the same notebook computer I own -- much like your situation. Coincindence? I think not.

Haha, I thought somebody might say something about that but it really is his computer. I am on my computer now...but outside of pointing out coincidences do you have any advice?

He should allow wherever water spilt to dry for few days atleast, 5 hours was not enough time he may have damaged it more by turning on too soon.. He could also have went inside unit and dried internal parts with terrycloth or such..

Same thing happened to me.. It took a week and a half for it to dry out..it would turn on, act as if it would boot then shut down again.. Like Krakkan said, let it dry out..if he can crack open the case and set it in front of a fan for a couple days, this might speed up the process..

Happened to me too, but in my case it was splattered on the keyboard. Just a few drops, but all my attempts to dry it were to no avail. My keyboard was dead. I ordered a new one off E-Bay and plugged a desktop keyboard into the PS2 port in the meantime.
