WELL- The problems started this morning. I set the thing to hibernate thismorning so I could take it to class, but, when I did, It seemed to shut down, do it's backing up-but wouldnt turn off. The fan continued to whir and the little led that says "i'm on!" was saying "i'm on!" (well not quite with so much personality, but you get the point.) But the screen was blank, so I just held down the powerbutton and it shut off. It booted up fine this afternoon when I was dling America's Army using wlan in my schools lobby when the laptop froze. I thought it was a network issue and hard-rebooted because It wouldnt respond to anything. I got back to windows, gave up on America's Army and just surfed the web -or tried to. The net was seeming really sluggish. So I packed up and went back to my dormroom to get hooked up to good old fashioned ethernet. I booted up my system, got to windows and it locked up again. Weird. So I rebooted to safe mode, uninstalled bit torrent and some lx downloader (two things that I downloaded that day to dl America's army) and ran my virus scanner (nortan corporate) The laptop froze halfway through the scan. I couldnt do anything but hard-reboot. But it wouldnt. It froze on the XP bootup screen (XP logo w/ little blue scrolly thing). I rebooted. It froze halfway through testing ram in POST. I rebooted again. I got a blank screen and the laptop beeped at me offensively about 5 times. Frustrated, I went to class and let the thing cool off. Two hrs later I tried to boot it up again and got the offensive beeps again.
I've just about had it with this laptop!
I love it's to-die-for display and full size keyboard and processor - But not when I cant even get through POST!
I guess I'll have to send it back-again- and maybe not get a bum motherboard.
It's a great machine, but it tastes like a lemon.
Anyone have any opinions?
