CURSES! 4750 motherboard shot! TWICE! - Page 3

If it's heat it'll just be a matter of time. You should call them and ask WTF happened and what was wrong. If it was a loose connection or a defective mobo, that's fine. If it just seemed to have gone bad, we may all be f'd because that means it'll keep going bad.

That had some pretty incoherent sentences. Wbeck, e-mail back asking what was wrong since you got it back (give them the case # so they can't play dumb either). We should know what the issues are with this notebook because if they are blatant enough, we could force a refund under the ground that the product is flawed and effectively dysfunctional.

Has anyone done any tests on these machines that are crashing?

To test your ram try this: http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

next thing to try is SISoftware Sandra use the burn in wizard. This should find any stability problems.
Aswell if you search some more there are other ram tests and burn in software out there.

All I know is once I get my machine I will be testing everything once I install windows and all the updates. Just to make sure that it isn't a software issue I will be testing on a new install of windows and just testing software installed.

It just seems fishy to me that so far there are only complaints about the sager 4750 that Ive seen so far. I tried to find other 4750 owners that are having these sort of problems with no luck. I have checked out alot of forums and no complaints (power notebook, hypersonic, etc.. owners and came up with nothing). So it leads me to think that Sager got a bad batch of mobo's.
I hope so for my sake because I will be ordering my lappy tomorrow or sunday.

This sounds like anti 4750 talk. Errr. My motherboard is motherlicious. It doesn't crash. Although recently I have been using my laptop as mainly a solitare, itunes machine. I haven't had time to game.

Take a look there. 5 out of 7 owners have a problem. Those tests are fine and dandy, but if we're experiencing these problems under any kind of usage, then there is an issue to be looked at. Mayaman ordered his about a month before I ordered mine. Unless mine came from a different batch then this is a "bad batch" problem. I really hope these problems get sorted out.

I have had my laptop since july 31st. At first I had some lockups but then when elevated it solved that issue. I think the as5 was one of the best things I did for it. If I had the money I would put in a mobile chip for even less heat.

chunkd, I ran the memory test (bootable CD) from Microsoft. Thanks for the link !

No errors.

So the 4750s either have defective mobos, or a heat problem that makes stuff go bad...yea...

No Way!! cool? thats amazing, I think that you should take the thing apart and see if there's a mini-AC device in there. COOL?? man, I'm not saying that I dont believe you, cuz you're the one with the laptop, but i cant believe that! Totally not fair. you sure the 3700 is in there and not something like a mobile 2800?? Just kidding, I really happy for ya!

oh, post some Mobile Meter numbers and tell us what it looks like after an extended round of UT2K, Doom3 or Farcry. Are the fans on all the time? does the processor scale speed like the 3000+, 3200+, and 3400+? it is the same case as the 4750, right?
Anyone have this problem? Have the ac plugged in then you pull it out and couple seconds or minutes the laptop freezes. Happens randomly when i take out plug. Am i pulling out the plug too fast???
i think a mobile 2800 would still kick some ass. I wish j4ever would benchmark the laptop. Nobody has done it with a 3700 yet.

shyy, you probably have, either a bad connection somewhere along the power line inside the computer, or your bios or whatever controlls the powerswitching stuff, has an issue. Just my guess, though. I dont think it has anything to do with the speed at which you pull the plug, unless of course you really rip it out, in which case, maybe you halfway ripped the port out of the computer

got that new firmware working and I think it just did the equivalent of casting res on my vanquished 4750. w00t!!! It's quite cool now, I'm in love again
