Ok now im confused. I tried to do a screen shot with the screen saver, but the light leakge didnt show up. But there is no doubt it is there. Then i tried watching a dvd and it was definately noticable. I could probaly watch the movie as it is, but i would definately have to get used to it. But yet again, the leakage doesnt show up in screen shots. am i doin domething wrong?. I don't know if it matters but when i watched the dvd it was very grainy. I dont know whats up there maybe i was expecting too much. What should i do?

Hrm. That's odd. Mine is most noticible when it's the WinXP screen saver and with a widescreen DVD. I also had all the lights turned off and it was night time for both cases.

I'm surprised it doesn't show up on the screen saver. It should show up automatically since it's not any particular screen setting, but an issue with the screen hardware itself.

Heh. Sorry I'm no help. Just sympathizing with plight.

Edit: I may be mis-interpreting, but when you say screen shots, you aren't doing the "Ctrl-Print Screen", right? It has to be a picture taken from a camera.

I'll be honest with you. If you can barely see the light leakage in that dark screen, you won't have a bloody problem if you are using a lighter background. I can see quite some leakage when running the Win XP screen saver, but right now, in this forum, (because of the white background), my screen is as perfect as they come. I don't even notice the leakage during DVD playback. It is definitely NOT THAT BAD and seriously NOT GROUNDS FOR RETURN.

Do you mean a photo of the screen or using the printscreen function on the keyboard when you say screenshot? A printscreen will not show the light leakage as it is a thing with the display.

John Deere excavators are really rebranded and re-engined Hitachi excavators. There is not a single soul that doesn't like them. Evo, I don't know what you are talking about.

Hey guys believe me, i dont want to send back my comp. I just want to make sure that i'm gettin my money's worth. Plus i'm new to laptops so idont really know what to expect. But i'm pretty sure i can live with it. On that note, is it acceptable that when i scroll down any text is illegible? Is that normal ghosting? thx

When you scroll the text should blur. Then once you stop, it should snap into focus with maybe a 1/2 second delay or so.

I think the easiest way to tell if you have ghosting is to try a first-person shooter. If the game is so blurry that you can no longer identify objects on the screen, THEN it's bad. A little blurring is normal with LCDs, but you should still be able to tell things apart.
