Hey guys my Acer Ferrari 3200 is coming tomorrow i got it from J & R in new york, today, as I looking through PC magazine there is a review on notebook computers and they picked

Velocity Micro CL56 1.7 ghz, 512mb, 60gb hd, 9700 128mb v dvd/cd-rw for $1500

I am just wondering the speed between the two computer... I am mostly using for Photoshop, AVID, and few other graphic packages... I really like the look of acer but I am also want to save some money ... is the CL 56 really slower than the Acer? I had a 2.6GHz 9000Radon 64mb Sony vaio before...GRV670

thank you for the help

yours truly

I never owned it, but from all the reviews I read, it's excellent in performance, but the screen is not so good. It have some bad angles.

Are you sure you can return that notebook from J & R? I bought this camcorder battery a year or two ago, and when I returned it, they only gave me store credit... they won't even return it back to my cc...

Someone mentioned a while back that the screens for the Ferrari and CL56 were the same, I've seen the Ferrari's screen in person and it looked a bit washed out but once I positioned myself directly in front of it it wasn't so bad.

The Athlon64 2800+ is probably only a little better than the PentiumM 1.7 Dothan according to these benchmarks:

The performance difference between those two laptops shouldn't be huge. The Ferrari graphics card is clocked relatively high. The screen isn't perfect, no, but it doesn't bother me. It may bother some others, so if you have a history of being picky about things like that, make sure to test it first

won't be any difference in performance with 32 bit apps

do you want longer battery life or 64 bit capabilities?

I chose the 3200 because I plan on using the 3200 until I can get a lappy with an OLED screen, a complete solid state memory solution and a perfected user replaceable GPU for under $2500. I figure I'll have plenty of 64 bit time before then.
