Here are some links, I'm sure I'm missing a few key ones though:
http://www.toshiba-users.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi
http://forums.compuserve.com/gvforum...&access=public

And if you are prepared to wade thru all the junk to get to the gems of a thread that are buried there (the SEARCH function is a great resource), there's always the Dell Forums:

Yeah, I use this forum for Toshiba news. It isn't the mos tpopulated (only like 5 posts a day), but it kept me updated on the release of the S705.

Here's an interesting comparison being made between the new Toshibas, Dells and Sonys in that same Dell Forum thread...no Sager mention as a contender though...hopefully just because the author is concerned with battery life??

I think it includes the Windows Media Center - so you can capture video from the TV tuner to Hard Disk ( like TiVo ).. Im not sure if this is ontop of XP Home or XP Pro tho.

Personally, Ill get the cheapest OS possible then reformat and reinstall XP PRO once I get it.
Yes, it comes with Windows XP Media Center Edition. However, this is basically Windows XP Professional with one extra feature.

The "Media Center" is actually an extra application that can run in the background or only be used when the user would like. Basically, it allows the user to download program guides and more easily save Television shows to the hard drive. It's a pretty nifty utility, and with the Operating System being based off of Windows XP Professional, there's nothing much to complain about.

Essentially, XP Media Center is the same Operating System as Windows XP Pro, with an added bonus.

I hope this helps.

bigshloss:

Heh thats cool, if it comes on top of XP Pro I wont even have reformat -- Assuming I actually buy the laptop this weekend....

Oh, decisions...
Yeah, I felt the same way before going in and actually checking the laptop out. After I saw how everything worked with the Media Center Edition, I don't believe I would reformat either.
Yeah but the real question is will this Windows Media Center OS allow Hyper Threading with the new HT Intel processors coming out as XP Pro does. If not then its a useless utility and OS for me and many others I would imagine......
I am sure it will allow Hyper Threading. It currently allows it, as Alienware has a desktop that runs the 3.06 HT with Media Center.

Again, Media Center is built right off of Windows XP Professional, so it is basically XP Pro plus a lil' something extra.

Yeah - what's up with this whole '70's retro thing? Man, I hate the '70's looks! Ugly ugly ugly! Bell bottoms, fuzzy hems, drab colors (or psychedelic colors), laptops that look like ugly blocks of lead with paint on them...

1970's - don't like the look!

Other than me (heh!), the best thing to come out of the 70's was Carter. He was such a pathectic loser joke of a worthless president that Reagan was able to easily win. And that was good!

Reagan won the Cold War. And that was even better!

...

Reagan also ruined parts of the government and jacked up the homeless rate like hell, ...oh and don't forget that it was GW sr. that brought that wall down. Reagan also never talked to the press. in fact, he'd tell the helicopter pilot to start the engine up early, so by the time he was to leave, the engines would be roaring so loud that he couldn't hear the presse's questions.

NICE PLOY!

Now I'm not thinking of putting a new OS on, but I would like to hear any juice you guys know of Windows Longhorn?
