Well basicly I was typing a paper and i noticed that my wi-fi(Gigabyte 108Mb) went down and i didnt think anything of it untell now. and so i called up sager after I, uninstalled the drivers, reinstalled drivers off the cd, then nothing, uninstalled then reinstalled ones off sager's site, nothing, uninstall, reinstall the ones off GIGabyte's site, nothing, turn the secerity off on router, do all over again. nothing. uninstalled SP2, nothing, then thats when the phone rings hi the is sager and how can i help... well i tryed this ( all stated above)...
Sager "o well its software based so you have to reinstall windows."
me "uh ok"
sager "ok that it?"
me "i guess"
me "cya?"
sager "bye"

but to set the seen a little better i have just got done formatting and stuff for the 5th time this week so doing it again really itnt my cup of tea.. but i will come here before i step in the the boat of reinstalling every thing again.

thanks

update: after a fresh install of windows XP pro it still has this problem. I might RMA my laptop for the second time the month but thats just not my cup of tea. I had my MB replaced earlyer this month because of a bad vid card.

First, try turning off your 802.11x authentication--right click network neighborhood, propreties, choose the wireless connection, choose properties, flip through the tabs and uncheck it when you find it.

Might be useful if you could supply more information--what wireless network are you trying to connect to, for example? Why are you assuming its the wireless card and not the router? Router make and model?

i know its not my router because It was working on my 5690 and i did a fresh install and its still doing it.. also when i took the card out and put it in my 5670 it fired right up. Im guessing its the miniPCI slot that the card is in that is bad. but the thing is that the 5690 shows that the card is installed its just not trying to get anyupdates. iv even tryed to do the little wireless point-to-point confiuration to see if it was my router and still not broudcasting. i cant even pick it up with my wireless network sniffer(only when its in the 5690). also up updated and downgraded my bios and reset the bios and which non worked. but the thing is that windows still shows the card is installed! iv formatted about 6 times this week so im on the edge of insanaty when it comes to that. also iv reset my router a million times (about 6) and iv disabled any type of secerity that would interfear it from just getting a broudcast message. but when i look at the gigabyte clent the little dish at the bottem of it has an x though it and when i click it to enable the raido it says raideo was seccfull but nothing changes and i click it again and the same thing. ill try anything you sugest. i dont really fell like sending this in for an RMA if the MB is bad that would be the second one this month if i did. iV already had the MB replaced due to a bad VID card and I had sager install this card when it was there. also it was working for about a week and then it just disconnected me from my AP for no reason. So i think it might be my MB's MINIPC slot under the keyboard thats bad. but i might be wrong and someone can help.

thanks

OK OK I AM A COMPLEAT JACK A$$

To fix this problem all you have to do is hit the Fn F-11 key and that enables the wireless every thing seems to come right on after doing this

Man I feel like an A$$

Hmm. I turned off my WiFi via Fn-F11 awhile ago and have no problems connecting to the net. I thought all it did was enable peer-to-peer capabilities after I saw it working.

I'd turned it off when boarding a plane and forgot to turn it back on when next I opened my 5680. Didn't even realize the little blinking light thingie wasn't...blinking...for a few days.
