3790 delay :(

Did anyone else receive this email in the past couple days?
Just revieved it today

"According to the most recent update from Sager, the forthcoming shipment of 3790 parts has suffered a temporary setback. What this means is that your 3790 order will not be shipped in the timeframe we originally expected. At this time, you should expect our earlier estimates to be pushed back by at least one week. We do apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause, but unfortunately the situation is currently out of our hands. If you wish to change or cancel your order, please reply to this email."

the screen poking, the cpu throttling, and the wait are all killing me
It might be time to pull my order.

Hehe you should read Draw's review, I asked discountlaptops, and they were supposed to get the shipment yesterday, but b/c of bad weather in asia the shipment was delayed for another few days.

yes the screen poking, cpu throttling, and the wait are killing me too!!

hmmm....havent gotten that email. Maybe that means they are actually going to ship mine soon. Otherwise, I may be changing my mind on this one.

Yeah I got that e-mail earlier today.

I don't blame PCT at all for the delay, but you'd think Sager would have anticipated the demand for a new model and had adequate numbers of units on hand to at least fill most of the early orders. That leads me to believe that either: a) Sager WAY underestimated the number of orders they were going to receive, or b) there's a pretty serious problem somewhere in the production line that's holding everything up.

I hope it's "a".

I wonder if the serious problem would be the screen poking. sounds like one to me.

I just visited the Sager website. Anyone else notice that the 1.7Ghz and higher models are now available ONLY with the WUXGA screen? I just checked PCT's site and nothing has changed there.... wonder what gives?

Edit: My bad.... I was looking at the wrong configuration page on Sager's site.

I agree that it's not PCT's fault, but I just cant wait any longer. I need this thing for Designing/Presentations, and I need it ASAP.

I just found a I9100 for 1200bux flat

Bye Sager... it was almost nice knowing you

Screen poking??? Man I have a dirty mind

I received that e-mail as well. Don't blame PCT one bit. But the shipping delay and surfacing of 3790 problems, like Draw's screen difficulty and the CPU stepping function, don't do much to inspire confidence. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. Then again, the 3790 is a totally new system so it's bound to have some bugs that need to be worked out. Anyway, the delay shouldn't detract people from doing business with PCT. From what I've seen and experienced, they're well deserving of their reputation.

I'll second that. Be sure to check out the most recent posts on Computiac's thread regarding BIOS settings and battery life for the 3790. Sager didn't come through for us in correcting this problem, but Luke at PCT most certainly did. Read the thread. It is extrememly telling of PC Torque and its dedication to customers.

I was just about to change my order from 3790 to 4750 just because of the shipping time but the 4750 is backordered as well. WTF I just can't get my hands on a laptop. Perhaps I wasn't meant to get one. I was about to order it the first day it was avalible (4th or 5th of august) but I accidently used the wrong exp date and the card was put on hold for internet orders. This was my parents card and they were in hawaii at the time (I had their permission), so I had them call the card company the next day and then placed my order when things were cleared up (6th of august). Now 20 days later I am informed by the e-mail that it will be another week or so at least. SO I go to the page to see if it would be worth it to get the 4750 and find out it to is backordered. I am sad seriously..... sad

Its good that the 4750 is still popular, but it sucks that you can't get a hold of one. I really think it may be caused by that storm in Taiwan.

From what I've read, they dont get hot. They're even running cooler than 8600's in some cases. I've had a P4 from Dell before and they have fan "stages". It's pretty nice actually, you cant tell they're even on.

And I found it here in my city from a authorized seller for Dell. So thats why its not too much $$

It's because it's ugly.

The 47XX and 8790 are much prettier. Not to mention the 3790, even with it's tumor. Or for that matter, any laptop that isnt as thick as it is wide
