Ctrl-Print Screen will capture the entire desktop.
Alt-Print Screen will capture the active window.

Then you can paste the image in Word or Power Point.

Nothing happens, when I do either... Do they get saved in a folder or is something supposed to pop up saying it was saved???

It gets saved to the clipboard. Go into a photo program(Windows Paint will work if you don't have one) and paste it(either right click and choose paste, or choose edit from the options and choose paste).

Oh, I didn't know about paint. That's cool.

There's another nifty screen capture program called "SnagIt" that I use. I think the "free" version will put some sort of "Captured by SnagIt" heading on it, though.
