Make a batch (.bat) file that contains the following line:
c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\TSSHUTDN.EXE 0 /DELAY:0 /POWERDOWN

Save it. Go to the scheduled tasks and have it run that bat file at whatever time(s) you want the PC to shut down.

Alternately, you can also have Windows XP do disk checks and disk defragments for all of your drives/partitions, and then shutdown.

For info on doing that, try this site:

I have downloaded but was diasppointed that the application runs in my system tray and I am not sure how to remove it. Also if it is going to run their why can't i put in a password to stop it or something. Right now i am really want this program because my cousing won't get offline in time. And at school when i am downloading music or something and want to go to bed i could shut the computer down in a few hours so i reduce the chances of getting a virus when connected to the network. so what i dont like is one

1. Anyone using the computer can stop the action.
2. it only allows me to do one. Disconnect or, Shutdown, or Logoff, not all
3. It is in the system tray.

Am I asking too much? Maybe I will check out download.com

try adding the following line into a scheduled task.

find shutdown.exe in the windows directory and use the following syntax

shutdown /s

i use this, and it will shutdown your computer at the desired time with a delay of 30 seconds.

XP? looks like longhorn to me

That's cool though. Better than loading a 3rd party program to do it.
