Thanks for posting pic of the CL56 dismantled. I was curious since that's what I have. One question though, how is it they get the screen to stay up at different angles? What causes the resistance? Can it wear out? And second question, as grateful as I am to see the computers insides, the question that comes to my mind is why. Why did you take this apart?

Just an idea here. If you have all those screws in picture 2 and you want to keep them in the same order as they came off, it's easier if you stick them into a piece of cardboard or something. That way you won't accidently knock them all over.

I'm assuming he took it apart to paint it. Most logical explanation for doing it.

no no no!!! 1st, i know how to disassemble it because i found the service manual in ftp.compal.com. 2nd i wasn't afraid for the screws because i am carefull !! but i did a paint job on a acer 1600 3rd i disassemble it because i like to know what i brought.. lol no . My right speaker was making a strange scratch noise and there was a lack of bass, so, i made bass reflex possible lol the top cover covered the bass reflex hole, so i had to make a hole in the top cover so the bass could come out. Because you can see on the speaker foto that there is a bass reflex hole !! it is not that diferent but it is litle better .

I would also like to see the CL56 service manual. I am having the 'missing keystroke' problem with my keyboard and I want to know the easiest way to remove it.
