I have been playing around with microsoft action pack latly having a look around all the software that isnt really know to be from the shelve. And i found a SWEET arse bit of kit.

It called Vitual PC. And bassicly it fools MOST linux OS that there are the main os and there not running ontop of windows. I suggest having a HT proccessor to do this as there will be less errors. I have done it with red hat and it worked perfectly. And u cna go full screen mode, put it into a window and minimaze it bassicly it can be treated like explorer boxes.

Doing this will stop people mucking up there boot files getting installations wrong and also no need for people to partition there disk or even reformat.
(alot of people ended up having to reformat on these boards.)

I know the whole point of linux is beacuse ppl dont like MS stuff (which is dumb) but this just makes it alot easyier/safer to people who want to try linux out without having all the problems. (i even think ppl have made msi for instaling a linux onto the pc for virtual pc)

I have not noticed any performance hit on the linux OS i was running and it did feel very stable. (and ofcoruse if it does crash MS recovers your data from the linux OS so u wont loose any unsaved data)

Just a thought.....

I've been doing Virtual PC work for the last 6 weeks, and I can say it's pretty stable.

Yep, Virtual PC is great. I deployed it to the IT department for Tech support purposes. I am looking forward to the release of Virtual server. It sits on your office server and any computer on the network can access the virtual PC's.
