Battalion-101 S Turbo

Thread Starter
HI,

If any1 have this laptop, I would like his impression... IT's the first laptop I see with the 64 bits pross and a 128 MB VC. However, the 802,11g wireless technology is not on the laptop... Also, what about the screen? The AMD 3400+ pross is equivalent to what pross P4 of Intel? Do you experienced any problems with this laptop?

Thanks,
Blacko

you should also check out the sager 4750 and the acer ferrari 3200.

3400+ equals to about a 3.4 P4 thus the name 3400+ even though its actual clockspeed is 2.2ghz

the screen by most reports is pretty nice

yes, the wifi 54g card is included

i dont have mine yet but from my research i can say, over'all unless you get a unit with bad heat managment, you'll come out happy with this DTR

Yes it is.

What did you want to know about the screen?

I just got one a couple weeks ago and I really like it, it does get a little bit warm, the screen is pretty nice, the WXGA does not really seem that small on this laptop. It seems very fast and I haven't had any problems playing Halo or games like that so far. It does have an Intel 2200 B/G wireless card built in. If you have any more questions, either ask here or AIM me at trlinden

with the 128 MD VC, are you able to play the newest games like doom3?

Thanks,
Blacko

IF you can get the damn processor to stay at 2ghz, I had doom3 running at 30-40fps in 1200x800 medium settings, non overclocked. Higher when overclocked.

what do you mean? That the procs aren't stable?

Thanks,
Blacko

the procs are fine...its just that windows is really stupid about PowerNow! and can't manage to keep it at 2ghz when set to "desktop" mode.

How many others here on Notebookforums.com have purchased this model thus far? How long have Ibuypower been offereing it? I've been doing some searching thoughout the forums and I'm coming up with mixed feelings on this due to:

-Lack of reviews (Ok I've found maybe 1 or 2 but no real followups and they've been rather incomplete)
-Big debates I'm finding about doing business with Ibuypower (Although the strongest negatives seem to be coming from folks whom have not personally done business with Ibuypower!)

Can we get some more thoughts on this model & company here in this thread. I'm close to pulling the trigger on this one and taking a chance but everytime am close, another thread w/ an arguement against it pops up. Is this really just another case and point as in you get what you pay for?

Can we get a better assessment on the pros and cons of this such config by anyone that has 1st hand experience with both the system & mentioned vendor?
