Actually, ZoneAlarm works fine. The only reason it's on the list is because M$ couldn't get the security center to talk with Zonealarm.

I see. Funny thing is that nothing really should be able to talk to these apps. Thats why the sec center cant contact NAV - its protected. Thats the way it SHOULD be.

No problems here

4750 No Problems either...

No problems on my Sager 4750. It's working like a champ w/Zone Alarm & Norton Anti-virus.

I've had it installed on my desktop for about a week... no problems so far. I turned the windows firewall OFF after the install (I already have McAfee) and after about 4 days I noticed it had turned itself ON again. Anybody else have that happen?

WTF? Are you sure?

it SP2 crashed my D8790P from Ibuypower... and they don't ship a floppy drive with the lap top and a RAID drive... so figure out what happened next.. a $$$ paper weight... Plus I bought a USB FDD Sony and it did not work... come to find out not all FDD or (floppy drive disks) are compatible with this computer.. i bought a 2nd drive then a 3rd after going to this board and getting some good feedback on what drive to get smartdisk D35FUE or (Mitsumi) finally worked. I found out that Intel has a program that will check your CPU and let you know if there is a problem with the systems BIOS / CPU set up. I check my system and YEP i have it.. so no SP2 for me and who knows if the bios will be updated to correct the problem.. thanks Ibuypower....

It won't automatically install sp2 without asking you, will it? How do I make sure windows doesn't update all sneaky-style? Also, what's the benefit of sp2 anyway?
I have two 4750s and I haven't had any real problems with SP2.

The only problem I had with SP2 is that I can't uprgrade to the lastest ZoneAlarm without a blue screen. However, this is a known issue.

The other thing that aggitated me was that you have to upgrade all your XP boxes for networking. I have XP2 on 7 other boxes without problems.

If you use wireless, the wireless connectivity apps improved. Other than that, I just prefer to have as few holes in my XP install as possible, LMAO.

Just thought I would chime in, so people trying to make a decision of whether or not to upgrade have more to make a decision with.

I have a Sager 8890, and I just installed and updated to SP2 last night, no problems.

A couple of precautions I did beforehand:

1) Made sure my system was CLEAN. No virus, no spyware, no trojans.
Recommended programs (that I used to ensure this) were AdAware, Spybot Search and Destroy, Hijack This, and Security Task Manager. - Did this step with System Restore TURNED OFF.

2) Uninstalled all popup blockers, antispyware, firewalls (just to be safe--I wanted a CLEAN system, because I'll admit I was nervous about the upgrade)

3) Rebooted to a totally clean system, turned System Restore back ON, then made a clean System Restore point.

4) Installed SP2. No problems.

Yay for me.

Good luck to those of you chewing your nails on this, I understand the feeling.
