Dilemma

I have an M6809 with the cracked hinges. I have been considering one of two courses of action and am looking for opinions (now be nice!). My system is a strock version with the exception of upgrading the HD to the Hitachi 7200 RPM drive.

Option 1 is to return the unit to BB under the DEVO program, pay the $50 and get the M6811 with the new BIOS. The downside to this, is other then the plastic hinge covers, the unit is fine. There are no dead pixels or other problems. Also, I understand that you get one new unit in the first year, and thereafter it is repair only. If eMachines were to come out with a upgarded unit in 6 months, I would be out of luck. Plus since it is really a cosmetic problem, I feel somewhat guilty getting a new machine.

Option 2 it to get the hinges fixed, take the $50 and apply it towards a 1 GB stick to replace the easily accessible one. This option is $100 more expensive and require me to surrender the machine for several days.

Thoughts?

100$ more expensive? How?

Well, the first option is $50 (difference in price between 6811 and 6809 at BB) while for the second option, the best price I have seen on 1 GB sticks is $150 at Outpost. So the difference is $100. Maybe I wasn't clear, but I was looking for a performance preference. Going with the 3200+ and 1.25 GB RAM or the 3400+ and 512 KB RAM. I am leaning towards the first solution, but am not as familar with the 3400+ and if it is significantly better than the 3200+.
