Advanced Visual Basic 6 Question

Hi,

I am taking Advanced Visual Basic 6. Does anyone know of any freeware I can use? I don't want to have to go to the school lab, which only has 20 computers and over 400 students.

Thanks,
James

You mean a freeware version of Visual Basic 6? none exists. you can get it cheap off of ebay, or you can get the Learning edition, which comes with a book and costs < $60 (as opposed to Pro, which can cost > $500)

Guess I was alittle vague. Where can I get the learning edition? I got my book from school and the teacher told me its suppose to come with the book I bought. But it didn't, just came with answers to the End Chap ex.

Thanks for the replies.

journeyed.com offers good prices on student editions of software, also if your school is anything like mine, i can get all sorts of software for free through an MS alliance with my school, nearly everything MS offers i can get for free for "school use"

nope, my school makes you pay for everything. Their website states they offer discounts, but its not. Thanks for the website.

I found I have an extra version of VB 6 Pro, original disk with key. I'll sell it to you for $45 if you want it. I have an MSDN license now, so I don't need it.

Also, I've seen copies of the Learning Edition on eBay for around the same price. So you can check there.

I'd give you my licence for VB because I'm not using it, but mine's from Visual Studio and I'd have to give you the whole thing.

Another possibility is to use VBA that comes with office (and other) products. If you have Word, for instance, you have almost the full VB editor via the Macros option. I don't know all the differences (ie. you can't compile to a binary is one), but I've had to use this in the past, and was quite impressed with how full-featured the editor was.

Since you are a student, you can get VB Academic edition for half the price of non-academic VB. Check out stores like needsoftware.com that offers academic versions of software. You will just need to fax them your student ID.
