eMachines M6809 DVD Help Needed

I tried to update the firmware for a Lite-On 431-S (internal) in my eMachines M6809 Notebook with firmware for the Lite-On 431 SX (external drive) and now It will not detect CD-ROMs, CD-Rs or CD-RWs. Does anyone have binaries of the original firmware for this drive since I mistakenly deleted my back-up binaries? Also, looking for any idea since neither Lite-On nor eMachines seems willing to help in any way at this point.

How did you upgrade your DVD firmware? What tool to use to backup the firmware?

Did you use DR4MS0K to try to update it? If so, I'm surprised that it even worked because it refused to update the firmware on the DVD drive in my M6809.

If you know of a program that will backup firmware, I'll gladly give you a copy of the original firmware on my machine.

Here a site that might help flashing/recoverying the firmware:

Comprehensive LiteOn Tools Collection

You should be able to use the DOS based MktFlash or the windows version WinMktFlash.

Final Update

My M6809 originaly had a Lite-On 431S Slim Type (firmware update killed the drive) which was replaced by Emachines with a Pioneer DVR-K12EM Slim Type. Tried everything I could think of ot flash it back but the drive would not function correctly. I was so dissapointed with the writing speed and performance of Pioneer DVR-K12EM that I purchased A NEC 6500A Dual Layer Dual format drive on New Egg for $156.00. The 6500A works like a charm but it is not as ascetically pleasing since the drive cover does match the case of the M6809. I will take performance over ascetics any day so I am sticking with the NEC drive. If only I could get a drive cover to go with notebook case.
