Upgrade through reseller?

Hi,

I was wondering whether I should upgrade to 1 gig RAM and wireless card through the reseller, or do it on my own. Major factor is whether or not this will void warranty, cuz I know I can save a good 90 bucks if I make the upgrades myself.

Ask your reseller if it will void the warranty. Upgrading RAM should be a piece of cake, and if they sell the wireless card as an accessory, you must be allowed to put it in. Assuming you're talking a Sager, there are picture posts all over these forums on the "guts" of the laptops. Good luck.

Well, I'm probably going to go through PCTorque...so, Adam, will adding another DIMM and a wireless network card void my warranty?

An additional question - for the 5670 - if I wanted to upgrade to 1 gig, I would add a 512 MB PC2100 DDR Memory SIMM right? How many pins does this have(I found one with 184 pins - is that the right one?)

I think a PC2100 SODIMM (PC2100 = 266MHz x 2 (DDR) ~ 533MHz, which the 8887 / 5670 use - the newer models need PC3200 400MHz RAM: 400MHz x 2 (DDR) = 800MHz) would do the trick - I think the notebook kind are 200 pins as opposed to 184 in a desktop

Something like these
