A64 always at 800mhz

I have a Compaq Presario R3240us. It has the A64 3200+ and for some reason it always runs at 797 mhz. I turned the power scheme to "Always On" yet it still runs at 797 all the time, unless its on battery it may dip down to as low as 319mhz depending on what I'm doing. Is there something that I need to download to make it run at the full 2.0 ghz when on AC? Any help will be much appreciated, thanks.

2 words: Power Now! . Please search these or the AMD forums and you should find the answer.

I have the same model and had the same problem. Use the Compaq chipset drivers from the Compaq website (latest ones) and the latest Power Now drivers (May 04) from AMD.com. Might have to install Power Now twice, for some stupid reason I did and THEN it started working. Works like a champ now. Use CPU ID to watch it scale back and forth. Other thing that MIGHT be a possibility was when I originally downloaded the Power Now drivers I didn't actually save them to the HD and then install them, I just ran it from the download. I know this sounds odd, but the second time I saved it to the HD then installed and it worked peachy. Not sure if it was the second install or the save to the HD that did it though..
