Choose please

Hopefully this will push clevo/sager to release the 4760 with the 800MHz FSB, 400 dual DDR, RAID, radeon 9600PRO, etc

I'm hoping that choice 4 gets the most votes so maybe adam can convince sager to upgrade the 4760 with these features...and since adam said hopefully around Oct these features will be implemented in the 4760...im hoping around that time they will upgrade the HDD with 7200 RPM by then

Adam: any word as to whether the 7200RPM drives will be available possibly around the time Sager upgrades the 4760 to the specs of the 2 other future models (8890/5680)?

Most likely the 5680. I can't afford to shell out another $500 canadian for 1.1 inches more screen. I hope the 15 inch widescreen LCD on the 5680 has NO ghosting and is big enough for gaming If pctorque can sell me an 8889 for 4000 canadian (2900 american) or under (that includes the taxes on) that has the 16.1 screen (I think that's the only option there is anyways, and it has to have NO ghosting) 60 gig 5400 rpm hard drive, 2.8 ghz p4 with hyperthreading and the 800 mhz fsb, 1 gig memory, dvd/cd-r drive then yes I will get the 8889. Otherwise, 5680.

Im most likely gettin the 8890. Unless it has any noticable ghosting. Then I might have to go with the 5680.

Probably the 4760 widescreen in it's current configuration. I'm not a gamer so I don't need the extra video memory. And I don't think I'd be able to afford a souped up version of the widescreen anyway. I'll barely be able to afford the current configuration.

There is a place in this world for well built, high quality, non-gaming machines!

Although I must admit if I had the disposable cash I'd be all over the proposed better version of the widescreen. But I'm trying to be realistic about what I can actually afford.

Definitely the 8890, all that extra stuff makes the geek in me giddy with glee.

And sick in the stomache at the cost... for me anyway hehe. I probably will decide the 8890. Just not sure I can get 1gig ram with it and a 2.4ghz or higher cpu, warranty and shipping all for under $2500. I'm hoping...

I am definately going for the 8890. All those goodies, how can one resist? I cannot recall ever seeing so many technological breakthroughs in one computer release... really, the only thing staying the same is the screen and the hard drive (which we can replace when the 7200's come out later this year). And man, that 9600 pro looks yummy. Mmmm, mmm. Yup.

As for the weight, who cares. You get used to that sort of thing when you start having kids. If you cannot lug the thing around, then maybe some of us should consider cutting an hour of CS online and going to the Gym!

Cheers guys,

Rakewell

What can you replace exactly?

CPU... Memory... Video card now... HD... CDrom... everything but the kitchen sink?

The important things I hope to be able to replace eventually are -

1. Video Card
2. Hard Drive
3. Cpu
4. Memory
5. Dvd burner (+ is better so I'll have to wait for that)

I doubt the video card is.. but the rest probably are. Curious though.. why do you say that "+" is better? I've heard that "-" is better and my personal experience seems to confirm that. I have a "-" drive and everything I burn seems to work in any DVD player I can find, except the xbox. A friend of mine has the +- sony drive and had the same results with "-" discs, but with "+" discs it's more of a 75% chance of them working in players he's tried.

I agree with kpk02 wholeheartedly on the DVD-R -- and each (and every) tech/professional I know endorses the -R because it's almost gauranteed to run on all standard DVD players.

As far as what system I'm planning on getting -- probably the 5680. I had the 8887 for a while (sent it back because it was a lemon, unfortunately) and the thing was codenamed 'the brick' by my friends and I. The thing is huge and heavy -- definitely not my style on the go.

I would like to see a professional vid card such as the FireGL, but considering it'll up the cost, I'll settle for the M10-P

I can't wait for the release, Does anyone have any idea when it will be out? I am really wanting to get the biggest, baddest Sager out there, so I will wait for the release as long as I have to.
Please hurry up man, I'm Fiendin' for a good computer fix!!!!

Not to start a debate, but the + is the better format. I can get you some links and such if you like. Just PM if your curious about it. I've done a TON of research on both of them to know for certain.

I was hoping there would be a + for notebooks as well. Do you think they will add that or perhaps a multi-DVD format drive?

no doubt

No doubt I am getting the 4760 it will be my first Sager. I don't do as much as some of you guys, but a logistics manager, it will be fun to have double windows when working out my budgets, and the best part of it all is I may be able to get my company to foot the bill. By the way my choice is #4

5680 and beyond

Definately, I am going for the 5680. But only if this model number stays the same long enough for me to save up.
I like the smaller body and more sexy look
I still am learning about what to look for to get what I want, so buying is a long process for me.

I would LOVE to buy the 4670 widescreen sweety if it got released with the 8890/5680 specs. I really hope Clevo will do it, at a reasonable price of course.

Cheers.

Ahh... I want Sager 4760 with the 800FSB and M10Pro... I will wait until then.

Around Oct this may happen. Custom paint is still being looked at while still having the Sager warranty.

5680 far better

I plan on getting the 5680. I don't know why anyone would want to drop an extra 500 bucks just to get an additional internal hard drive(is 80 gigs not enough?), an mp3 player, and 3 more lbs. I mean, the 5680 is barely going to be portable for me going to class at college. Also, the 5680 has the dual battery setup, so it will last much longer for watching movies and things like that. Do you really think that they 8890 is going to last long enough to watch a full lenght movie? I don't think so. The rest of the specs are almost identical. It's a no brainer for me. Assuming I save up enough money, I'm getting the 5680 as soon as it comes out.

The flexfit is what it's all about in the new notebooks... it will give us the ability to swap out the video card. The real question is... the video card with memory and everything like you would in a desktop system, or some sort of half way compromise or entire replacement of the motherboard(which if it were the motherboard, really wouldn't be all that special then anyway.)
