The 3790 is like a supermodel...

... with crooked & missing teeth - total redneck look... you take her out and your mates are hard-core impressed, until she smiles.. and they know you only managed to score her because no-one else would have her.. you could never take her to an important business dinner..

.. or a brand new AMG coupe with a coughy, spluttering engine and brakes that screech like a schoolgirl.. that you could never pick up your girlfriend in....

.. or a cashmere jersey with an ink-stain on the chest, that you obviously got for like $10 because of the blemish... that you could never wear when you go to meet your gf's parents....

It's like.. on the surface it appears you've made it first-class but it soon becomes apparent that you just don't cut it & that brings you down much further than if you'd just played within your range...

That's my objection to the Sager.. it's so close to being a first-class laptop that its failure is much more damaging than it would otherwise be.

How's that for airy-fairy?

And the really annoying thing.. is that that still isn't helping me make my decision...

um, wait, a13antichrist, are you saying all that even though you don't even own one

wtf do you know? I'm posting this from MY 3790, and I LOVE it. I would have NO reason to get anything else, because nothing else on the market meet my exact needs. So maybe you should see one in person for yourself before you shoot your mouth off about my new baby.

Ohhhh sorrrrrrrry, I should have made it clearer: the image that the 12-cell gives ME is akin to the images that those things I described give me.

Haven't you ever heard of poetic license?

hahah yeah I have... but you know how new mothers can get when thier babies are insulted.... *grrrrrrr*

But seriously, i think this is a great laptop. Sure, i see some poking when I push on the back, but when i'm not pushing, it's totally fine. And the 12-cell isn't that bad... a little big and heavy i guess, but if you hate it, get the 6 cell.

See the 6-cell defeats the whole purpose of buying a Centrino, if I was going to buy any laptop with 2hr battery life it'd be an Athlon64.

I'm half-thinking of getting the 6-cell with the Auto adapter though, since really the only time I'll be too far from a socket will be on road trips. But the 6-cell does still raise certain "convenience" issues.

I believe the 12 cell is a thing of beauty. There is no other laptop out there like it. Big, beautiful battery. If having a 12 cell can afford me 5+ hours of mobility on this WUXGA, 7200rpm hdd, 9700 128mb, 2.0 Dothan with screen cranked on high, I say bring on the 24 cell so's I can double that!
In all seriousness, the 12 cell is not as intimidating as it looks. The pictures simply don't do it justice -- it's not as obtrusive as they portray. And, it is certainly NOT a hinderance to the notebooks mobility. Take it from someone who owns one and carries it in a Vanguard while walking over a mile daily.
But, let's face it, some guys weren't built to handle all that power. So, a13antichrist, if the thought of a voluptuous, curvy 12 cell doesn't do it for you, then go for the scrawny, anorexic, Mary-Kate Olsen 6 cell (but be forewarned, she might look better o the outside, but comes with a whole mess of issues on the inside).

Hehe the truth is in the pudding as they say. So you should either get a sager or check out a friends and find out for yourself. I absolutely love my machine and will probably be a sager boy for a long time.

Hey, does anyone know where I can buy clothes for my 3790? I was thinking of something in pink cashmere. Nothing too formal. Just something stylish for a casual night on the town.
Also, will Astroglide harm the media-card reader?

Astoglide? Oh boy, calm down. Curvey 12cell is really cute but that stuff will get into the cracks and crevices.

And by-the-way, a13antichrist, you've been raggin on the 3790 way too much through out this forum. Why don't you go somewhere else and leave these nice sager lovin' folks alone.

No, you see I'm accustomed to supermodels & I'm not liking the idea of having one with buck teeth

As they say..when it comes down to it its the beauty within that really matters :P

Like I always say when people bring that up.. the beauty within doesn't help at all if you throw up on her when you wake up next to her...

So everything you want/have must be/is perfect? A single imperfection will make you puke with disgust?

Is the 3790 that revolting that you will uncontrollably defile it at sight?

Well, I am sorry, but not everyone here is an extremely wealthy, popular and powerful individual like you. Not all of us want to disregard an option that may have a slight blemish, even if otherwise lavish and affordable at the same time.

I guess you are just a better, more deserving person than the rest of us. May I lick your shoes now?

I didn't say it had to be perfect. I'm already overlooking the port placement (the VGA on the left like that is going to be a pain in the arse for me) as well as the speaker outs - it's like they ignored the fact that headphones aren't the only way to listen to laptop music..

The 12-cell is just much more of an issue because it's much more obvious and consequential than the port placement - you can't work around the ports, but you can work around having the lump or the extra weight.
