Good for the price, but it IS a 4200 RPM drive. If the budget is $1500 I don't think you'll do much better.

Also, from my experience, the cost difference between the banias and the dothan is generally negligible.

That's pretty much what I've been finding as well. The Velocity Micro Notemagix B50 Student Edition looks pretty nice as well, but the Twinhead seems more durable and I don't want to have to risk replacing it anytime soon.

I know it is a slow drive, but as you say, I don't think I'll do any better for the money.

Nope, that's a great price. Good luck with it and share your experiences. I think I'm still the only other active poster with an N15RB.

Right now I'm talking to Sam's about their warranty (of course there are no further student discounts ) to find out if I will void it if I swap out the proc or add RAM.
