Wow that's beautiful, paint mine now I noticed you installed a fan on the bottom. What kind of fan did you use? Was it easy to install?

i didnt really install anything, but i did do some removing. i cut and removed some of the internal aluminum protection, as well as, the plastic disk that keeps the intake closed. then i simply used speaker grill to gaurd the intake once it was open.

Very nice paint job. How far apart did you have to take it? Or did you just mask it off?

Regarding your fan, doesn't the fan pull air from the other side? (Under the little cover thing at the top right hand side of the keyboard?

Also,

When you power your CL56 on, does the WLAN light flash blue?

Mine blows air OUT that port.

When I first saw that fan, I thought maybe he had actually gotten a CL50 instead.

But if removing that disc helps at all I think I'll do it.

Thats an awesome paintjob though. I'd love to do one myself also.

Nice work! I'd be curious to get some info on the process you went through to do this, primarily the paint job. If you;d be willing I'd love to hear about the equipment and supplies (brands, types of paint, where purchased, etc.).

Thanks. =)

Nice job. Laptop looks great. May I ask: how did you paint? Did you use rattle cans or a paint compressor? Did you apply clearcoat? Does it have a mirror finish? Sorry so many questions because I painted my laptop and I'm quite curious how others paint theirs.

Nother pile up *dying to know what paint you used*

N233II0 is on the way... the silver top and the annoying areas around the keyboard must be painted due to fingerprint marks......

well for all who wanted to know, the paint is PPG Omni MBC and clear with catalyst. this was all done on a HVLP system. i dont have the exact names of the paints in front of me. if you are seriously interested in painting a laptop for yourself, pick up a copy of "How to Paint Your Car" David H. Jacobs Jr. its a great book for starters.

and about the modded intake, it sucks the air and blows it out as it should. i wish i could give everyone an idea of how this improved cooling, but the cl56 doesnt not give a cpu temp.

Using Primer, Base Coast, and Top Coat. Primer is $10 a pint, base coat is $40 for a pint x 2 colors, and top coat is another $30 for a pint. If you add in the cost for the many different levels of grit of sand paper, acrylic reducer, clear coat catalyst, and buffing polish, I am at $180. Don't forget masking tape and vynil roles for designs... $200.
here is a post i made in another thread.
