These machines are reliable, hard working and the support is great. Best of all - you cannot get a system like this for this kind of price without all the fanfare, hype and advertising ANYWHERE.

Think about it
WTF - Another G-Man returns.... Glad to see you have returned.

Machines are awsome, Great techsupport, and Sager Techsupport is verry friendly and quick to respond. I had two problems with my 8790, one of wich I could have gotten fixed with the second problem...

IMO I think they have better support than dell and compaq/hp, those companies seem to be geared towards company support or high volume support...

Best lappy ive ever owned...

It's very worth it.

I bought my 8790 direct from them and they have the best service I've ever dealt with. I also had my laptop upgrade with another 60BG with RAID 0 config through them and I couldn't be happier. They told me it would take 2-3 business days but after talking to their tech a little he manage to get my laptop on thusday morning and pick up on friday's afternoon. How's that for fast service!

i wouldnt have ordered 3 laptops from them if i didnt think sager was reliable

yea runnig a desktop proc in a small laptop chasis does put out some heat... just look at my 5680 all copper 2in heatsync.. hehehe

Clearly the 7200 will reduce load times and such but by $70 worth? Is there any DSL/Cable services that people have had issues using Sagers with? I know a few people with HPs and Dells have issues with software (nothing major just annoying). Oh and most importantly what exactly do they mean by 'Built-in Video Camera'? Is it exactly what it sounds like?

Thnx again you guys have been a great help

The most major bottleneck in laptops is two things... lack of ram and most importantly hd speed. Rember ram can handle sending out 2gbs a sec but it has to wait on your 30mbs/s or so 5400rpm hd. The faster the hd the better

Just want to add my testimony here. I have always been a straight-up retail guy (HP or Compaq) or mail order guy (Gateway and Dell). I knew I was going to need a new laptop for school earlier this year, and one day, during my internet browsing, I stumbled upon Sager and this forum.
Six months later, I received my 3790, and, I have to tell you, I am completely satisfied. The build of the product is solid. The price, too, is solid (a comparable notebook at Dell would cost $$$ more). I ordered my notebook preconfigured with WinXP Pro just b/c I am a computer weanie. Out of the box, everything ran fine.
If you've been reading this forum at all, you realize many of us are big PC Torque fans. I am as well. Nothing but exemplary service and timely communication. If you are going to take the plunge and buy a Sager (and I highly recommend you do), go through PC Torque . . . you won't regret the experience.
Good luck in your search. But, have no reservations about buying a Sager. Though you've never heard of them before, you won't want to buy another brand once you've tried one.

My firend was looking in on gettin the 3790 what happened to the blue finish choice? It like disappeared with no explanition why. Was it a promotional item or something that was to expensive to maintain?

With the exception of the annoying cracks, I love my 5670. It is a great notebook! going to probably buy Sager again in the future.

I just got my 4380V, and I have to say it is awesome. As of reliability, I am still waiting to find out... Take a chance, I did, and Im not regreting it so far.

My Sager died after 20 months. Originally sent it back to Sager two times during the warrantee period. Second attempt solved the immediate problem but did not eliminate the faulty motherboard. Main board keyboard interface was defective with warped pwb and cold solder joints.

Clevo protects dealers’ profits by not sharing component information with customers. Customers buy a machine with a higher than average failure rating, but with problems only a dealer can fix. My case example would cost $600 to $1000 before shipping to have it fixed. They did keep me going through the warrantee period with uptime above 85%. I did have to leave the chain of command and go to MS, before getting Sager to service their Window 2000 oem edition…. If anybody needs to buy parts to my Sager 8880, I am scraping my newest computer.

Sager’s / Clevo’s malpractices lie with engineers that define thermo dynamics as camping out in –20 degree weather while using a 30 degree sleeping bag; a sado-masochistic relationship at best.

If you use your computer for work, buy Sager two at a time and backup regularly. As a hobbyist, one will do. Be prepared to spend time at the library or at a friend’s house during downtime.

My sager is not reliable.

Well sorry to hear about that but sometimes people get bad apples, most people here have had their Sagers for over a year with no serious problems. It looks like I'm going to be one of them too.
@Spax: I've not heard any official word on why the blue cover was scrapped. It adds a lot, IMO, to the appearance of the 3790. However, I wouldn't let your friend decide whether or not to buy the 3790 based on the availability of this aesthetic mod alone.
i wants it even if it has a blue finish or not... i was just curious
post #38 of 72
Hey chessman, Are you still selling parts to your 8880?
Sager is GO!
I have my second Sager now (5720)
And old poor 4200 is closing on the 5th year of existence.

I'm in GS's camp. Dead 8790. Would love to've been able to say that Sager's been reliable for me. So far, Sony & Dell have both been much more stable than Sager has been for me. My friend was just giving me crap the other day because he bought a refurb'd Sony off Ubid.com and he did have one power issue- Sony fixed it for free (amazing considering it was a Ubid refurb!); other than that, he's had no issues. Probably paid less than half of what I paid for my 8790. Motherboard replacement (needing another now), power-in issues, Video RAM replacement... hard to know whether to trust another Sager machine for the money.

But, judging from all the people who've never had problems... hard to tell. If those people weren't around, I wouldn't even think of trying again. As it is, I'm willing to give it a go again. But it's a hard decision.
