try turning the firewall off... actually, it makes more problems than it solves...

I've tried to turn off the firewall, but it still gives no result.
I am thinking about the conflict happens between the launch manager, windows xp sp2 native bluetooth driver, and the widcomm 1.3.27 driver. Because in certain times, Windows indicates that it has found the bluetooth device. However, every times the launch manager launched, then it will begin to die again. If I was not installing the launch manager and the widcomm driver, I can use my bluetooth with the windows native driver. However, I lost the functionality of launch manager.

How can I solve this dilemma?
Please help me... so desperate...

Then just try installing windows native driver and then set it to be disabbled. Windows won't try to install it again and you may use widcomm driver. Not sure if it will work, but why don't give it a try...

1. Install XP
2. Install Launch Manager 1.08
3. Install the Widcomm stack
4. Install SP2
5. Install the chipset drivers
6. Install PowerNow

Do it in this order and everything should be cool.

Put your data and set-up programs on different partitions next time so you can format and reinstall anytime you want. I probably format and reinstall my OS once every month. Gotta keep it clean.

Just remember BT before SP2 and SP2 before chipset/PowerNow.

btw, Ferrari3200, is it windows xp sp1 that you meant? or the windows xp without any service pack?

And also for the recovery cd, is it deleting all data from all partitions? or it just deletes data from drive C partition?

and also, is there any other way to fix my problem without reformatting?

thanx alot for your help
yes, XP SP1 the first time

just from the C partition, but I recommend skipping the Acer CD's and using your own copy of XP SP1. Just use the drivers from the system CD or the updated drivers that Snoore listed in the review post from Adam@PCTorque

You could try to uninstall Launch Manager and make sure you install version 1.08 or earlier. I remember having troubles with any newer versions as well.

Not sure about the Ir, never had issues with mine, but I haven't used it with SP2, I'm a BT and wifi man myself.

Good luck.

What purpose does the launch manager serve?

The launch manager serves to configure the hot keys, shortcut keys, and the device's boot status
post #13 of 22
When I tried a newer version of launch manager before it didn't recognize my wifi or BT. I went back to 1.08 and it was perfect again.

Ferrari3200, can you please give me a link to download launch manager version 1.08? I've tried to go to dritek system's website, but the server might have problems. My version is 1.1.0.0 if I'm not mistaken.

cheers

Launch Manager 1.08

So, where did you guys get the old launch manager? I've got SP2 installed and it deactivates my wifi driver and says NO DEVICE whenever I press the wifi or bluetooth toggle button.

This is not a review or a benchmark!!!!

There is a forum for this Notebook Support (peer to peer) http://notebookforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=40

thread moved. Please try to follow the rules. Next time I will just delete the thread.

Funny, when I found this thread it was under the Notebook Support (peer to peer). It wasn't under a benchmark forum.

Found a launchmgr that works

I found a launch manager ver 1.08 from the European Acer FTP site (3/2004)with a newer date than the 1.08 from the US website (8/2003) and the buttons work beautifully.
