Selling the Mobility 9700 / MR9700

Ordered the MR9800 today and if/when it gets here I'll be looking to dump the 9700... probably on eBay.

I was thinking about a start value of 99 cents and maybe Buy It Now for $100 or $120. Do you guys think these values seem reasonable? Thanks.

I doubt you will be able to give it away, but some people have said that they would buy it for less than $100US. These are the rare people that bought their 9100/XPS with the 64MB version of the card. It would be a significant upgrade for those people I think. Problem is that once dell starts shipping 9800s the market will be flooded with 9700s. good luck.

Personally, I am going to hold onto my 9700 "just in case" of disaster.

Well I'd be happy selling it for $100. It'll cover the cost of the Dell Tech installation fee... which I'm hoping to possibly be able to cancel if my card ships before they schedule the install.

I posted a thorough explanation of my conversation with dell today elsewhere, but simply put, the install is part of part number, so it can't be removed. also, since you're paying for it, let them do it. if something goes wrong, and you are doing it, you're out a $2500 laptop, or the card, if they break it, they gotta replace it

and my little girl wants to say hi

She is quite verbose, isn't she?

How old is she? I have a 6 month old little girl and boy ( twins ) and they have given my life new ( and badly needed, frankly ) meaning. Give her a hug from me...

Sure no problem. Supposedly my card ships on or before the 27th. I'll make a decision then about selling it.

I've decided to sell it on eBay now that I've got my 9800. I don't really see the point in keeping it. If only it were a desktop card...

Got Mine

I ordered my card Weds Last week, 9/15 and rec'd it yesterday 9/20. incredible. I emailed them, and they credited the $94 install fee. I put mine in last nite, 30 mins time. Only had a few extra minutes problem with the one hinge getting it to line up properly, but all went well, and my XPS screams. I absolutely love this laptop. I price checked it within the 30 days, and also got $100 credit issued, and shipping was free, as I ordered the laptop overnight and it took (2) days to come. Hey money is money right!!
Anyways once I opened I am completely comfortable in working on this, and maybe even doing some minor mods...

This is funny, E-bay is going to be flooded with 9700 Mobility cards. I planned on selling mine for about $100 when I get my MR9800 tomorrow.

We should stagger the E-bay posts so as to not undersell eachother LOL! We need to work together here people.

i was going to buy one but I changed my mind I will get the 1 GB of Ram first, will help out a lot more on UT2004 than the 128MB card will

Does anyone know if the mr9700s from our Dells are compatible with other laptops? I know they say Dell on them so I was wondering.

No the 9700s from Dell are for 9100/XPS only and wouldn't be compatible with any other model or manufacturer. AW has their own modules, etc.

Well my auction ends in a week, so if you want to stagger the listings, that's cool with me. Thanks.

Bummer, so there's pretty much no reselling the 64mb mr9700. unless somebody had one that crapped out on them (which can't be too common).
