I'm recommending this post be a sticky b/c it seems many people with the 8790 have/will experience this problem.

problem: upon booting or seemingly intermittent times, pink artifacts appear on the screen. this is not a software related issue.
solution:
1) Take out your keyboard
Pressing on the tabs with your thumbnail. you'll notice a few tabs above
the esc, f7, PrtSc, and * keys.
push down with your thumbnail pointing towards the esc key and not
towards the screen, it should pop out easily.
2) Loosen the screws a bit.
That's it, next time you'll boot up you won't see the pink poo!
