ACER 8006LMi review - Page 4

I managed to exchange the HD without any problems. Took about three minutes total!

I'm very satisfied with my new laptop so far. Only thing negative is the lack of a trackpoint. Installed a couple of IBM R51:s at work today and the trackpoint on them is about 1000% better than anything else I've tried. The MR9700 in the 8006LMi plays Half-Life 2 at 1024*768 just fine which was one of the most important considerations I had before ordering.

A faster DVD-burner would be the logical next upgrade to this computer...

None, I exchanged the disk at once when I got the computer and then used the recovery disk to install everything. After that I converted the disk to NTFS.

DVI connector in Acer 8006

Hi there,

Regarding the DVI, I believe it's a DVI-D, not a mini-DVI nor a DVI-I, correct? Does anyone know what resolution is it able to achieve? (check this page for pictures of the connectors - http://www.datapro.net/products/1148.html)

I was planning to get the 23inch Apple monitor to go with the laptop to work at home. By the way, no ps2 connector for keyboard, right?

Hi,
i just wonder if someone could give me an advice on what kind of
DVD's my 8006 DVD would burn faster then 2,4x.
I've tried some like RITEC and TDK 1-8x but in Nero im still able

Could somebody tell me what PCMCIA controller is there in this laptop? Or maybe someone uses the Creative Audigy 2 ZS card with it and can tell if everything works fine? I consider buying this computer (or 8100 series - how is with it?) but I would like to know if this card will work well.
Thanks

Audigy 2 ZS Notebook works fine in both 8003 and 8104 here. Both laptops use O2Micro PCMCIA controller (slightly different models, OZ711M3 in 8104).
