Anyone's 8600 running warmer since SP2 installed?

I can't be imagining this. My fans would hardly ever kick in during normal Windows use, ever since I installed SP2, my fans kick in all over the place, even just watching a DVD and doing nothing else. Anyone else's system doing the same?

And yes, my temps seem higher now too

Well, I have been staying away from SP2, waiting for initial reports from poor users.

So a plea to those bold enough to jump into SP2: please record which Windows programs and services are running on your boxes under SP1, and tell us what additional programs/services appear in the Task Manager after upgrading to SP2.

i've been noticing my fans running more while doing nothing with SP2

Both of my laptops run the same or better. No extra heating noted. Haven't done much gaming with SP2.

No change on either my 9100 or my gf's 8600 in terms of heat. I had been running release candidates previously for some time and never noticed anything heat wise there either.

The only differance I've seen with SP2 is the Powerup and Shut down times have increased. No heat problems noted.

FYI, SP2 also now causes my shoes to come untied regularly as well as blocking my toaster from receiving incoming bread.

Hmm, I was just posting about my fan noise in a separate post. I know I downloaded SP2 fairly soon after connecting to my LAN, which is about when my fans started coming on all the time, but I feel like it did this even before I installed it. Is there a way to uninstall SP2 without losing anything, or without losing SP1?

You can remove SP2 through Add/Remove programs.

I know, but does this put the system back to the way it was before SP2? Or does it affect anything else? SP1 will still be installed?

SP1 should still be installed. I imagine that any programs you installed after SP2 was installed may stop working.

Once you have got SP2, don't go back, just wait for an update. In the near future, even cautious guys like me won't be able to stay away from SP2, since MS will asssume SP2 is installed for their future security updates.

My i8600 has also been running noticeably warmer since I upgraded to SP2. If anyone comes across a fix for this, or any other info I'd love to hear it.
