It doesn't matter whether you're running at 32bit colour or not. If your screen can't display it, then it won't.

What notebook with lcd screen natively supports 16.7 million colors?

Do you know of any XGA/WXGA notebook with lcd that natively supports more than 256K colors?
All notebook LCD's that I know of use dithering to produce the millions of colors. If you have one that natively has the millions of colors, it must have cost a huge amount, if it even exists. Most manufacturers say "can display XX millions of colors" when they really mean "can display XX millions of colors using dithering." asus is just blunt and figures people will know what's up when they say it does 256k colors.

Evidently, most people don't given the number of times this has been asked!

Very Nice review , Question: Are you using Asus's Utility for wireless? The Blue Led on my notebook doesn't light up
post #44 of 51
it only works if u have the intel wireless chip... anything else (e.g. dell's truemobile chip) isn't compatible with those features.

Updated original review with battery life info, some comments about the difficulty some are having with fan and temp readings/control, and general editing.

thank you for updating peter...i'm thinking about buying the asus m6bne but i'm still concerning about the dimension of the laptop. i've dell inspiron 1150 n it's huge. i wanted to purchase sumthing smaller, less than 1.3". i don't know if i should go for the m6. the height in which asus said was .86"-1.34" but after reading your review and other reviews it appears that the height is a bit bigger. it's my biggest concern...

or should i go and buy the cyberpower s4-3000?

I don't know the Cyberpower. Sounds like you'll have to struggle with that choice. Size preference is a subjective thing.

Checking in here after some years. I'm still running my 2004 Asus with no problems whatsoever! This is the longest I've ever owned a computer since my first in 1984.

Looking to replace now with either HP Elitebook or Thinkpad T or W510.

Cheers!
