8890 Screen

Thread Starter

Anyone know if the the 8890 screen is going to be the same screen that the current 88XX are shipping with. And if so does anyone have the specs on it not just the UXGA 1600 x 1200. I need the refreshes if possible and the minimum and maximum viewable angles. I would greatly appreciate it. thanks

Unfortunately, this information is not known even for the current 8887 screen. However, we do know that it will be a 1600x1200 16.1" screen. What brand/model/specs are still unknown.

He's talking about the 8887, not 8890.

Actually the response time is 30ms rise and 20ms fall so a total of 50ms. This explains the slight ghosting effect that some users see on the 8887

A few weeks ago when I was trying to decide between the 8887 and the 5670, I e-mailed another website to ask about the 8887 screen. Here is what he said.

Thank you for your inquiry!

Actually the Sager NP8887 does have a wide angles display. The viewing angle is 140 degrees, the brightness is 175 nits, the contrast ratio is 400:1 and the response time is 30 ms rise and 20 ms fall.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Thanks,

(I asked him if the 8887 was going to be avalable with a wide angles screen like the 5670)

Is this true, or was he lieing?

Slacker,
That is correct. I have done my own research and have found the exact same specs on the display. It is a wide angle when compared to other LCD's and since I have owned a 5660, 8887 and am now awaiting the 8890 I can say that the displays are some of the nicest out there. Besides being a powerhouse of a machine, the 8887 specs will beat anything out there currently. If you look at the all around machine it is built for longevity and desktop replacement. Other manufacturers will call their screens different names but 9 times out of 10 they will be the exact same display as this machine has, with the same specs.

And regarding Donald, I have dealt with him on all 3 of my machines and found that his only purpose when dealing with a customer is to be straight up with them. He will not give you false information just to make a sale as he want's you to come back for your next one. So when he responds regarding a question, you can be sure it is to the best of his knowledge. Hope this helps clear a few things up.

yea wish the screen would be the wide angle viewing type like the new sonys lcd 16 inch

would be amazing to have the same quality screen as the 5670 but just 16 inchs

So the 8887 has 400:1 contrast? I think this is right because I have seen a 200:1 screen and the 8887's has much higher contrast.
