hellow, my kensington security lock is stuck on my laptop.... for those who know about it i have the correct code in it b/c i can flip the locking switch to the red dot but the lock will not come out of the slot.... not the happiest camper in the world... ive already tried calling tech support but they are closed for labor day so i ended up emailing them and will call tomorrow.

You've probably tried wiggling the lock around (turning it in the slot)? Other than that... not sure what to do.

Keep jiggln', I've had the same panic attack. Be sure the proper combo is lined up just right (exact middle of the right numbers), spring should pop out, then do half turn. When you get it out give the spring mech a little WD40. Cranky little thing.

try pressing in as you unlock it. sometimes the locking mechanism gets caught on the inside chassis's edge.

ithink ive jiggled more than all the jello ever created by mankind
ok well i called kensington today and they said I am going to have to get a bonded locksmith. but they will send me a replacement.... whooopppdiii friggin dooo. something is def messed up on the inside after just rotating the numbers around the combination has changed from what it was set to.... it was reallly hard to spin the number closest to the end but once it freed up some after a few spins (and consequently the combo getting changed) but it still seems to get tight sometimes. so i plan on calling the locksmith tomorrow to see how much it is gonna be and whether or not i call kensington back....i probably will anyways. but i dont think i ever want to mess this this POS ever again.

you know...
you could always just unscrew off the palmrest and then see what is going on from the inside. The lock has two prongs that stick out, maybe you can just use some pliers and pop it out from the inside. just a thought, cause locksmiths are expensive.

HEY!!!! Is this one of those locks in one of the other threads that you could defeat with paper or something....?????? That would give you the combination no matter what is was... I know stu has seen it, what about you spiike???

i called the locksmith and they didnt have any clue how much it was gonna be w/o looking at it so i let Matt Beaty loose on the stupide thing and he got it off. so now i have to buy him something nice for being such a pal. anyways i figure i might as well post a guide on how to get those blasted things off so no one else has to go through what i did.
