Bad*ss audio/sound components

i am looking for the best components to build a kickass sound system through my laptop.
I currently have Klipsch 2.1 but i will be going 5.1 in two weeks. However, i am still stumbled upon the external sound cards. I know there are numerous out there but i kinda want the best high quality external sound card.

Bare in mind that i dont do any type of recording and or mixing. All i will be needing this for is listening to mp3s.

Right now i have the M-Audio 7.1 Revolution sound card on my desktop with the 2.1 and the sound quality output is amazing. However, i will be selling my entire desktop in order to get the laptop that i want.

i want to be able to still listen to my mp3s with the same sound quality which is why i would like to have an even better sound system for my comp.

Any suggestions?

I run my home theater through a PC, largely to drive the projector with strong tweaking abilities... On the audio side I'm currently using a revolution 7.1. I don't know what to suggest for laptop audio, but the folks at www.avsforum.com probably would. There's a section dedicated to home theater PCs, throw your question in there and you'll likely get a number of hits. Search there as well - there's a huge volume of good information.

fwiw, I'm using the Revolution's SP/DIF into a Madrigal/Proceed pre-amp, then a Krell amp and finally into a set of Revel proforma's. It sounds wonderful and starts with a PC.
