8887's bottom fans pull IN the air... right?

Thread Starter
I often make the mistake of putting my soda or ice cream on a coaster on the right-hand side of my Sager 8887. Of course with the hot air blowing full force out of the side port directly onto my consumables, I find the ice cream turned to milk, and my sodas are nice and warm... just the way I like them!

So I felt underneath, wondering how hot it gets, and it feels to me like the fans on the underside of the 8887 are pulling air inwards, so all the outgoing air must be jetting out of the right-side exhaust. I might be wrong but it really seems like that's how the cooling system is working.

I was just concerned because some 8887 owners on this forum are buying the laptop cooling platforms with the built-in fans that suck hot air away from the bottom of the laptop. Maybe it could be interfering with the underside fans that are trying to suck air inwards?

Again, I might be totally wrong about all this, but just wanted to share my discovery. Maybe some of you can observe the underside fans of the 8887 and verify if it's sucking air inwards, and share your thoughts about whether the laptop cooling platforms are helpful or harmful.

yes, the bottom fans draw air, i think the back vents are for air to go in as well,e those on the left the only vents meant for air to go out arside, for 5670, right for ur 8887...

i might be wrong though

those platforms you talk about suck air IN as well, i.e. the fans blow air onto the bottom of the laptop, thus making it act b oth like forced induction as well as blowing cool air across the entire bottom of the laptop, which helps. Yes those t hings are great, they're not needed its not like its some sort of bug, but personally i like them, even for on a desk, or lap just because it is cooler. and for $20 you cant beat it

I bought one of those coolers that uses the heat-pipe technology. I got if from Comp-usa for 29.99 where you will pay over 40.00 on the net. I believe it works the same way takes heat from the underneath edges of the laptop and cools it and cycles it thru the middle of the cooler where the fans pull it in. I am not sure....and please someone correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to help.

By the way.....it seems to help on my X-8887-V and soon to be 8890.
