Bang for the 3790 buck

Thread Starter
Hi, all. I'm looking at the 3790, and I'm trying to bring it in under $1900, so I'm playing around with various combinations to see how I can get the most for my money.

Will going with the 1.7 Ghz 2MB L2 CPU cost me a big performance difference compared to the 2.0 Ghz? If I pair it with 1GB RAM, will I still be able to play Doom 3?

What about SXGA+ vs. WUXGA+? I'm doing graphic design, watching DVD's, and gaming, along with, um, work.

Also, anyone have an opinion as to who the best Sager reseller is?

Thanks for the help,

P

You won't SEE a difference at all. Only in benchmarks, and only about a 3%-5% differerence. Get the 1.7ghz. I play all the latest games, including Doom III, on my system. Check my sig.

Get the WSXGA+. The WUXGA is very high resolution, but it doesn't sound like you would need it. A lot of people get it for bragging rights.

That's easy. PCTorque. This is their forum, and if you read some of my threads, you'll see that their customer service is bar none. Good Luck.

Besides bragging rights...

Besides bragging rights, what would you need a WUXGA for?

I just want the screen to rock because I decided not to get the Asus LG5X because it was too damn heavy and hot , but the ACE screen was supposed to be amazing.

I want a DTR, but one that I can actually take off my desktop. Otherwise I'd just buy a desktop. But who wants to do that?

WUXGA can be used for graphic design and stuff like that. It's a very crisp and clear screen. Check out my CL56 Vs. 3790 thread for the viewing angles. It's got great viewing angles.
Most people think it makes things to small, but you can increase the DPI and it looks great. I'm running mine with increased DPI, and the text and icons are the perfect size. In the end it's all in your personal taste, and if you have the extra money.
