Just curious as to how many of you guys use the original ATi drivers or the Omega drivers...

A question for the omega driver users, when you do a clean install of windows, do you install the Omega driver pack, or first install original ATi drivers and then the the Omega drivers on top of that (after uninstalling the ATi control panel first of course)?

I hear the Omega drivers are ok the only danger is if you over clock you are asking for trouble. Just my opinion.

Stock drivers here working fine on everything I have done so far
Lappy has a MR9600 w/64meg original factory installed drivers
Desktop has a 9800 Pro w/128meg Upgraded to ATI cat 4.7 in june
FarCry and Doom3 and all the other 15 or so games play very well on both systems

I'm using Omegas, did a fresh XP install and never put the ATi drivers on there. The Omegas are just modified ATi's really...

Overclocking aggressively without any problems so far. If it fries, time for another laptop by then I guess.

Somehow I was unable to even find ATI drivers that would install on my laptop.

I upgraded my eMachines ATI driver to the one from Arima. (ver 6.14.10.6404, a few digits newer than the eMachines)

Omegas ofc

The ones on the CD, and the latest build made for Mobiles, are based on the Cat's 4.2 !!!

Omegas latest are based on the Cat's 4.8

I was having trouble with the Omegas..

1) After starting from hybernation it would sometimes have just a black screen with vertical lines...apparently the hybernation file was corrupt...never a problem with the stock drivers...

2) Also my aquamark score dropped from 22,000 to 11,000...they say Omegas aren't made for benchmarking but a 50% decrease?! (I am really curious what is going on here, if anyone knows)

The problem however is that I removed the omega drivers and reloaded the stock drivers the came on the CD and now I have no ATI control panel...I cant access any settings! This is really annoying, simply for the fact that my machine has crippled drivers and that bugs me...

Heres a screenshot of where the ATI settings should be (correct me if I'm wrong)

I am really curious how to get the ATI control panel and settings back, if anyone knows.

you have to install ati control panel and check that you have the maximum agp tranfer settings on the smartgart panel ! 22000 to 11000 is wrong !

You can actually get most ATI Catalyst based drivers to work on your laptop by patching them with Mobility Modder

I had the Omegas installed and was unable to watch any DVD's with them installed. So I reverted back to ATI's drivers. For my new laptop (M11-128) I'm going to stick with the ATI originals unless there is an overwhelming reason not to.

I had been using the drivers that came with my cl56, and it worked fine, but then I got Doom 3, and it kept crashing every ten minutes or so of gameplay. so, some dude recommended the omega's, and walla, the crashing with doom 3 stopped. They work fine.

Omega's, after clean windows install..
Working fine btw, but I don't play Doom 3 on my laptop :P

The original drivers, supplied on the cd were a bit to old, so I got some trouble with some games. The manufacturar didn't supplied new drivers for download, so I choose to use the Omega drivers

Where do you get the ATI control panel? All the CL56 driver CD I recieved has is drivers...it mentions nothing about an ATI control panel.
