ok so i just got my 3790 and finally have time to get linux installed on one of my machines and couldn't find anything in the forums on getting linux on a 3790 *probably cause its new* anyway, imma start this thread and update it as i go w/ tid bits and where i got my drivers etc. etc. to get things working...

here goes... oh and this is my first time installing linux and getting it fully running btw, past experiences were very short, so if any linux guru's or anyone else wants to help/contribute please do

install went fine, except on the monitor, i had to change the driver from raden (fxgpl) or something to just plain radeon to get the KDE to work properly, there's supossedly another driver i can use but haven't gotten around to it, tomorrow i'm going to work on getting the wireless to work, the nic worked fine...

AFAIK the current ATI Linux driver (fglrx) doesnt support the mobility 9800 some mobility 9700s all X cards and any card before the 8500 for 3D acceleration. You might be able to get it working under 2D, but your prolly better off sticking with the driver that came with your X server as it already does 2D pretty well.

well i switched it to the default 'radeon' driver it works under 2d so far, i was googl'n and found some drivers *i'll have to post the site* for drivers radeons w/ the chipset th e9700 mobile has, i'm just having problems cause like i said, i'm still new to linux so i'm still learning how to install drivers and stuff, and i don't have much time to work on the laptop...
