My pings in online games went up to like 800 lastnight and never went down.. WTF?

i just did a ping test with tcp optimizer and it gave me an avg ping of 65 tho... wtf whats wrong with my ping in games

my web browsing speed and dl speed and upload speed are normal.. so what the hell happened to my ping??

all games or just a specific one????

I kno a game i like to play "americas army" speeds up if u clear the cache,,,don't know why,,,but it does.

depends on up service... usually the downstream on cable is better but the ratio with its upstream suxs... and yes i know w/dsl your up is the same as your down... but usually the good dsl service(as in more then 1mb BW) cost a good amount at lest over here it does.

for example am on earthlink around 2.5mb bw... my downstream is around 350k-400k but my upstream is a urber fast 45k

First of all, I highly doubt you will find a dsl service with same DL/UL, and pay less than business price. I have 1.54/768, and getting about 1.3/680 from it. Also, your download speed is only as fast as the upload speed of the server of the particular service it is running on.

Don't even get me started on cable pings.

i know that.. but there is dsl companies that have the same ratio... but it cost a bundle... usually dsl has a better ratio then cable.. as for my pings i get about 55 on most games if am not uploading or my ftp is off ect.

Is this in just one game? Are you positive it's you? If you know it's you than try and find out if other people in your dorm or school are having the same problem. If they are than you should get ahold of your school's IT department, they may have recently changed something.
