Ok I want to get a laptop but I have no idea what I want and I am a bit confused...

What the hell is the difference between a desknote and a regular laptop computer?

And why do tablet PCs look so cool but are xtremely expensive and have slow processors?

What is a good name brand of laptops and Im tryin to find a good one for $1000 or less with around 2Ghz processor with about 512 RAM and atleast a 40 GB harddrive
any reccomendations?

desknote (gosh i hope i'm right), is a notebook computer w/o an internal battery. i.e., it may have an external battery or just an ac adapter.

tablet seems to cost much more because (1) screen is touch sensitive; (2) size & weight constraints. the slower processor is partly due to battery life and partly due to having to avoid excessive heat generated.

for tring to figure out which laptop is for you, first take a look at DDDa's "newbie guide".

Ok, ok. Try the link under my signature. You need to tell what kind of processor. I'm sure you're talking about P4s or P4-Ms, since a 2.0Ghz P-M at this price is... well, inexistent. Take a look, it's worth it...

edit: it reached a "funny" condition. Now, if I want to add more things to the "tutorial", I need to continue at the 3rd page.
