Best 2.1 speaker system?

Im looking for a good 2.1 speaker system for my laptop to play music on. I listen mostly to either rock or rap most of the time so something that could accomodate that would be good. I'm also looking for one thats $100 or less if possible. If i was going to spend more than that i would automatically go for the klipsch GMX 2.1a but they are like $150....any suggestions for ones under $100?

I've had the Logitech 340s and they were brilliant. Even used them for a party at home once and they did the job splendidly.
Got a set of Altec Lansings at the moment & they are more than satisfactory as well, don't know the model number though... they were on special so I bought two..

Bose has a 3 piece system with a great subwolfer for 250.
Amazing sound can, if I want, thunder the house well.

For under 100 get the Altec Lansing 221 3 piece system Best Buy was selling for 50.00. Normally about 70-80$
Great sound and very good subwolfer too.

right at $100, and might be able to find it a bit cheaper elsewhere, is the z-2200 speakers from logitech
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...onics&n=507846

those are more or less the satellites and sub from the z680s, but in a 2.1 configuration

The Logitech Z-2200 2.1 speakers are a nice buy. I just bought mine recently for my notebook and i couldn't be happier. They have a rebate right now for $50 (I got mine for about $60 after rebate). It's a 3 piece set; 2 satellites, 1 subwoofer, and they're THX Certified.

Boston Acoustics BA635 is also a good choice.
I love the bass that this speaker produce.
It was a small speaker that produce a very loud & clear sound.
I love it that I bought 3 of this speaker for all my computers & laptop.
Also it is under $100 for sure.

Logitech Z-2200

pricegrabber.com has a link for it

These Z-2200s are sick...120 Watts for the subs...i live in a dorm, and you can hear my bass about 8 rooms down...rocks walls, makes things shake in my room....pretty cool, i got it for $108 without the $50 rebate, i just sent it out...great great buy...awesome with action movies

I've compared that Logitech 2200 2.1 to my Klipsch Promedia 2.1 and the Klipsch speakers were much better. I got the Klipsch for $129 from HP.com, after a $50 rebate a few months ago.

how should a 2.1 speaker system be place so it can be used to fill an entire dorm room with music? Like how far apart should the 2 satellite be from each other, and how far should they be from the subwoofer (how far above)?
well i have the bose companions...and they say to actually point them slightly away from eachother...(not both facing directly forward). the manual says keep them 2ft above the sub...i forget how far apart...and i really don't know if this applies to all satellites, since some might be more directional then others.

Here is a link to the rebate form for the Logitech Z-2200s.

It has a list of places where the offer is NOT valid at (everywhere else is ok).
