as some of you may know, i returned my 3790 and ordered cl56. i received it today. many people have reviewed cl56, so i thought i will take a different path:
cl56 vs. np3790
size&weight&etc: look them up yourself
build quality: comparable. only thing i noticed that was different is that the lid (back of lcd) seemed firmer on cl56. perhaps draw, if he reads this post, can comment on this.
screen: no contest. cl56 is not bad, but it is a notch below 3790. vertical viewing angle is noticeably smaller than 3790, as i notice screen looking a bit different as i change my sitting posture. while this may be an annoyance to some, it does not bother me as i mostly work with letters, numbers, symbols and line graphs. occasionally, i do surface plots w/ color gradients, but occasions are so rare that i don't see myself getting too upset.
have not viewed a movie yet. by the way, i do miss the widescreen and its capability to set two documents side by side....
noise: cl56 is quieter. however, 3790 did not bother me as its noise for the most part should be swamped by ambient noise in most places.
heat: cl56 is cooler. many, including yours truly, have noticed some warmth on the left side of the wristpad on 3790. the heat is not bothersome, but definitely noticeable.
keyboard: 3790 give a bit more than i would like, but the travel is longer and better suited for me. cl56 is bit on the crisp side, and i'm hoping i can wear down the keys to be a bit more giving.
performance: too early to comment. having similar configuration, i would expect them to be comparable. i'll do another post if i notice otherwise.
battery life: to be done later. i will fly this weekend, so i thought i would do it during my 13 hour flight to asia.
overall: i personally prefer cl56 and am glad to made the switch. if you are into gaming, perhaps 3790 is a better choise since it has a better screen.
